Representation for my screenplay and TV show idea

Hello everyone!

I've written a character-driven drama set in Beverly Hills.

The story is based on personal experiences, but the characters and events are fictionalized. It explores themes such as identity, trauma, faith, and the underlying pressures of a culture obsessed with self-improvement—particularly for women.

The tone blends emotional honesty with subtle warmth and light humor.

I'm not your typical screenwriter, but I have a lot of ideas and I'm enjoying the process.

Making the right connections isn't easy, but I know the script has strength and tells a story that many women/men can relate to.

I would be grateful for any help or advice on how to bring my vision for the finished film to life.

I also have a TV show idea that would be a perfect fit for the Hollywood scene.

Thanks!

Hi! Alexandra Piwowarski

First of all, congratulations on finishing a character-driven drama — that’s no small thing. Stories rooted in personal truth often carry the strongest emotional weight, especially when they explore identity, trauma, and cultural pressure.

In terms of representation, I’d suggest a few steps:

• Make sure your script is professionally polished (coverage, table read, or trusted feedback)

• Prepare a strong logline and one-page synopsis

• Research managers (not just agents) who represent character-driven drama

• Use platforms like Stage 32, IMDbPro, and film festivals to identify reps who already work in your genre

For your TV idea, consider developing a concise pitch deck before reaching out to anyone clarity sells.

Representation usually comes after momentum (contest placements, referrals, strong samples), so focus on building leverage alongside outreach.

Keep going authentic stories absolutely find their audience when positioned well.

Wishing you the best with both projects!

Thank you so much for all the helpful tips.

I‘ve already tried a lot and finished the synopsis and logline.

I‘ve also finished the pitch for the TV show.

I've even searched for and contacted managers and people who have filmed similar content.

I think I just need to keep at it.

I've now submitted my script to a contest.

I'm excited and I won't give up.

Thanks again!

Hi, Alexandra Piwowarski! Lyra Tan is having an AMA called "How to Sell & Get a Rep in this State of the Industry" in the Writers' Room Lounge all day today (www.stage32.com/lounge/vip/Ask-Me-Anything-AMA-2-20-to-2-21-How-to-Sell-...). You can sign up for your first month of the Writers' Room free here www.stage32.com/writers-room/plans-vip

Reach out to the Success Team at success@stage32.com. Geoff and his team can help you connect with reps, producers, and more.

You could post your script on your profile. Producers search profiles for projects. Maybe reps too. That and networking are how I sold four short scripts to a producer. Click the gear symbol in the top right-hand corner and select “Edit profile” in the drop-down menu. Scroll down to “Loglines” and click “Add/edit loglines” to the right of “Loglines.” You can also post your script on your profile this way: www.stage32.com/loglines (near the top where it says “Add a Logline”)

That's really helpful. Thank you so much.

I'll do that.

Alexandra Piwowarski That’s such a great mindset persistence really is everything in this industry. I’m genuinely rooting for you.

I’m actually also exploring representation at the moment, particularly looking for a manager to help position and pitch one of my feature projects to producers. If you happen to come across any managers who are open to new material in our space, I’d really appreciate staying in touch about it.

And of course, if I come across any opportunities or contacts that feel aligned with your work, I’d be happy to share as well. We’re all navigating this together.

Let’s keep each other updated!

Maurice Vaughan

You're welcome, Alexandra Piwowarski. Hope you get a rep and sell your scripts!

Alexandra Piwowarski

Abhijeet Aade

Yes, absolutely.

I'm open to further contact and updates.

I'd also be happy to help if I find someone who's open to other projects.

It's really kind and wonderful that there are so many great people here who support each other.

hi Alexandra Piwowarski - welcome and congrats on finishing your script. to the great guidance already present in this thread I would only add 1) to try to complete as much of the profile on the platform as possible. The fields about work and life experiences, etc. are great ways for industry people on here to know a bit about 'who' the writer is. and 2) stay active in this lounge but also in the Producing and the Directing lounges. reading and contributing to the conversations is the gateway to a lot of practical info and advice and, very often connections that turn into collaborations.

and specifically for this weekend, today starts our monthly Introduce Yourself Weekend - perfect opportunity to tell everyone here about your projects and your goals. https://www.stage32.com/lounge/introduce_yourself

excited to follow your journey with your project(s)! cheers

Alexandra Piwowarski Congrats on finishing your script, that's a great achievement. Just like Maurice Vaughan said, staying active and constantly interacting with people in other lounges can be a gateway to connecting with producers who you can collaborate with.

Also, you can send private DMs to producers and mangers here on stage 32.

That's exactly what I do, and it has worked for me. A producer said he'd love to read my script after sending him a cold DM.

I wish you the best of luck.

Thank you, I really appreciate that.

It means a lot to connect with people who are open to sharing opportunities and supporting one another. That kind of generosity makes a big difference in this industry.

I’ll absolutely keep you updated on my side as well, and if I come across anything that aligns with your work, I’ll be happy to share.

Grateful to be connected looking forward to staying in touch.
