Introduce Yourself : Hello, community! by Jason Hauser

Jason Hauser

Hello, community!

First off,  hi to all! I've been a screenwriter for several years now. Most recently I created a show for Disney+ that aired 20 episodes. And while that sounds good on paper, it feels like a lifetime ago.

My show aired during the strike, and we were not renewed for a second season. On the positive flip, the episodes we did get to do were a dream come true. It took me quite a while - more than I realized while going through it - to get over the cancellation of the show, as well as some unfortunate not-fun life stuff that coincided with that cancellation.

But after what felt like a huge creative dry spell, my creative energy has been bursting in the last few months. I've finished two pilots and I'm about to begin a draft of an animated film. But I'm lacking one  key ingredient - representation. So I'm here in the hopes that the Stage32 community can help keep me motivated with my representation-seeking energy. Any stories, advice, or help in that realm are more than welcomed!

Thanks for listening, and I'm sending out all the positive vibes for people who might be struggling, or just need those vibes. We could certainly all use them right now.

Hey Jason Hauser that's awesome and great to meet you! What was the show you made for Disney?

Jonathan Welford

Awesome to have 20 episodes with Disney as a calling card.

Delphine Herrmann

Thank you for your positive vibes and for sharing. Your words have become images, and you can be proud of that. Keep going, and remember that life is short, so savor every moment. That way, your passion will burn you less; it will become a guiding flame.

Jason Hauser

Hey Pat Alexander , the show was Pretty Freekin Scary. Nice to meet you as well!

Ruben Varela

You came to the right place Stage 32 is the most supportive creative community I’ve ever been a part of. Just keep writing and good things will happen.

Timothy Miller

Jason Hauser thank you for sharing such a compelling and moving story of your experiences, it is very moving and extremely motivating especially when experiencing a dry spell myself. I don't often share too much of my personal life but it truly resonates with current events going on in my life thank you deeply.

Kevin Patel

Congratulations on your success Jason. Just keep networking and find the right people who share your vision. All the best!

Alex Bridge

Nice to meet you Jason! congrats for the Disney show and the profile pic, I guess you’re the one on the left..right?

Ashley Renée Smith!

Hi Jason Hauser, welcome to Stage 32! I’m Ashley, Head of Community here on the platform. It’s great to meet you, and I really appreciate how openly you shared your journey.

Creating a show for Disney+ and getting 20 episodes produced is a huge accomplishment, even if it didn’t continue. And what you said about the aftermath, both creatively and personally, is something a lot of people can relate to, even if they don’t always say it out loud. It’s great to hear that your creative energy is back and flowing again.

As you focus on finding representation, one of the most important things you can do here is stay visible and active. I’d encourage you to regularly participate in the Screenwriting Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/screenwriting) and the Producing Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/producing). Sharing your experience, joining conversations, and connecting with other creatives can open doors in ways that aren’t always obvious at first.

I’d also recommend reaching out to our Success Team at Success@Stage32.com. If you tell them more about your background, your recent work, and your goal of securing representation, they can help guide you toward targeted opportunities and connections that align with where you are in your career.

What kind of representation are you hoping to find right now, manager, agent, or both, and what do you want that relationship to look like?

Jason Hauser

Pat Alexander I wish you could still watch it on Disney+, but they took it off when they didn't renew us. It's available on other streamers, but only as purchasable episodes, unfortunately.

Jason Hauser

Alex Bridge Hah, in answering if I'm the one on the left....it depends on the day.

Jason Hauser

Ashley Renée Smith! Thank you for the kind words and direction in navigating this place. I will certainly take your advice!

As I get older, and as the industry dramatically shifts, I feel like my struggles should be talked about. Discussed. So many people are in the same boat, and I know that I want to hear those stories as well. Relatability and vulnerability shouldn't be words of shame, as I believe they too often are. I'm tired of the masking. Sometimes everything isn't okay, and that's okay to accept and chat about.

RIght now I'm more actively looking for a manager, but would be open to an agent as well. I'm hoping to find someone who understands my desire to transition to other avenues outside of kids' television. I recently finished a YA animated pilot, as well as a workplace adult single-cam, and want someone who can help me shape and mold them into pitchable entities. I also have several other adult single-cam pilots I've written, and am working on an animated film. I want to find representation that understands my need to stretch my wings into different writing avenues.

Pat Alexander

Ah, darn! I'll have to look it up and see where else it's avail

Brenda Mohammed

Nice to meet you, Jason.

Welcome Jason Hauser. Yours is a very interesting story. A hopeful one for new writers, yet with a good dose of reality as things don't always go exactly as we hope. Best of luck with your new scripts!

Sydney S
