Hello, Stage 32! I’d like to reintroduce myself.
I’m Charmane Wedderburn, an author and feature screenwriter based in Switzerland with roots in Jamaica.
I’ve always loved stories that begin with one simple question:
“What if?”
That one question has led me to write psychological thrillers, mysteries, science fiction, supernatural dramas, animation, and prestige television. Although the genres are different, they’re all connected by the same thread:
Ordinary people forced to confront extraordinary truths.
Lately, I’ve been refining several feature screenplays while discovering that every finished project seems to lead to another question… and another story waiting to be told.
One of those questions recently became the foundation for my feature screenplay THE SIX:
“What happens when the voice that created a perfect system falls silent?”
As I explored that idea, one line suddenly unlocked the entire story:
“God fell silent. Heaven didn’t.”
That moment reminded me why I love storytelling so much. Every screenplay begins with curiosity, but the best ones continue by asking questions that don’t have easy answers.
Beyond writing, I value creative collaboration, thoughtful feedback, and building genuine relationships with people who love stories as much as I do. I believe the strongest projects grow through conversations with talented people who challenge, inspire, and encourage one another.
I’m looking forward to connecting with writers, producers, directors, actors, and creatives from around the world—learning from your journeys, sharing ideas, and hopefully building lasting creative relationships along the way.
Looking forward to meeting new faces, reconnecting with familiar ones, and being part of another great Introduce Yourself Weekend!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Great to see you reintroducing yourself, Charmane Wedderburn! It’s always exciting to see how your storytelling continues to evolve.
I love that your work is driven by the question of “What if?” that curiosity is often where the most compelling stories begin. The concept behind THE SIX especially caught my attention; that central question creates a lot of room for exploring themes of faith, humanity, and the consequences of uncertainty.
Looking forward to following your continued journey and seeing where these new stories take you. Wishing you continued success with your screenplays, and I hope you continue making great connections here on Stage 32!

Hey Charmane Wedderburn, this is such a stunning reintroduction thoughtful, elegant, and full of that curiosity-driven energy that’s so uniquely yours.
The way you frame your entire creative process around a single “What if?” is one of my favorite things about your storytelling. It’s such a simple doorway, yet you always walk through it into worlds that feel deeply layered, human, and quietly unsettling in the best possible way.
Your line about ordinary people confronting extraordinary truths is exactly why your scripts linger long after reading them. They’re big in concept but intimate in impact, and The Six fits that perfectly.
“God fell silent. Heaven didn’t.”
Honestly, that tagline completely gives me chills. That’s one of those lines that opens a whole universe in a single breath; you can instantly feel the mythology, the tension, and the existential weight. It’s the kind of high-concept idea that keeps unfolding the more you sit with it.
I also love how you speak about collaboration. You have such a grounded, generous approach to creative partnership thoughtful feedback, genuine curiosity, and the willingness to challenge ideas while keeping the story at the dead center. That's the exact energy that makes development feel like a discovery instead of a conflict.
I'm so excited to keep connecting with you through story development, world-building, and all the crazy “What if?” questions that lead to your next screenplay. Happy Introduce Yourself Weekend, Charmane; it's always an absolute joy to watch your work evolve!

Sandra, thank you so much for such an incredibly thoughtful message. It truly means a lot coming from someone whose insight and encouragement I’ve come to value so much through the Writers’ Room.
I’m especially grateful that “What if?” and “God fell silent. Heaven didn’t.” resonated with you. Those ideas became the compass for THE SIX, and it’s wonderful to know they connected in the way I’d hoped.
Thank you for always encouraging thoughtful development and genuine collaboration. I’m really looking forward to continuing these conversations and seeing where all of our stories lead.
Happy Introduce Yourself Weekend!

Hi Cyrus, thank you so much for your thoughtful message! I’m really glad the “What if?” approach and the central idea behind THE SIX resonated with you. One of my goals with that story is to explore big questions through deeply human characters, so it’s wonderful to know those themes came across. I really appreciate your encouragement and look forward to following your journey here on Stage 32 as well. Happy Introduce Yourself Weekend!

Welcome back, and the "What if?" question is the best starting point for any story because it opens up possibility before you've committed to any particular outcome. The line that unlocked THE SIX is strong and specific enough to carry a whole project. What's the most surprising story that has come out of asking "What if?" when you least expected it?

Thank you so much, Samantha! I completely agree. For me, “What if?” has become less of a writing technique and more of a way of seeing the world.
Ironically, the most surprising story came to me just this week when I wasn’t trying to think of a new idea at all. One image suddenly appeared in my mind, followed almost immediately by another, and within minutes an entirely new screenplay was unfolding. That’s one of the things I love most about storytelling. Sometimes the stories you least expect are the ones that refuse to leave you alone until you write them.
I’ve learned not to ignore those moments anymore—they’ve often led to some of my favorite projects.

Hi Charmaine. It's good to see you again and happy IYW.
I just love this intro. "What if":truly is the beginning. And it, or some variation, keeps driving story till the end.
Writer curiosity alone has created so many amazing things. Here's to "What if". Stay curious!

Hi Charmane! I love the idea that so many stories begin with a simple “What if?” Mine usually start the same way. Wish You Were Here grew from asking, “What if someone died before they had the chance to make peace with their past?” It’s amazing how one question can grow into an entire world. Wishing you all the best with your projects

Thank you so much, Elle! That really means a lot to me. I love what you said about writer curiosity—it really is the engine that keeps a story alive from the first “What if?” to the final page. Sometimes the answer is even more surprising than the question that started it. Here’s to staying curious and continuing to tell stories that challenge and inspire us. Wishing you a wonderful Introduce Yourself Weekend!
