I'm James A. Wunderlich, an artist creator and founder of Orbital Sound. For the past three months I've been helping Slater Brothers Entertainment as a jurist for two of their festivals while also working on my own festival, Anima Cinefest 2026; now in its fourth year of bringing global animation to our local downtown theater. I'm also working hard at building out a media and entertainment production studio to fuel my passion for music, film, and book offerings. I'm looking forward to working on my own projects and bringing them to completion as well as sharing and learning right here on Stage32.

James, great to meet you. It sounds like you’ve had a very busy few months, and congratulations on bringing Anima Cinefest into its fourth year. Building a festival while also developing a media and entertainment studio is no small undertaking.
I really like your focus on bringing projects to completion too — that’s often the hardest part of the creative process. Wishing you continued momentum with the festival, the studio, and your own film, music, and book projects.

So...slacking. I kid, I kid. All extremely impressive, James Wunderlich. Obviously, you have much to share here on the platform AND none the least of which is your obvious drive and discipline. Look forward to seeing you around more often!

Four years of building Anima Cinefest is a great milestone. Has running the festival changed the way you look at your own work as a filmmaker, especially when it comes to what connects with an audience?

James Wunderlich , you have a LOT going on! Four years of Anima Cinefest is a fantastic accomplishment, especially creating a place for global animation to reach a local audience. I’m curious about the production studio you’re building. What kinds of projects do you ultimately want to come out of it?

Welcome back, and it's great to see a creator who is building a festival and a production studio while working on their own projects. What's the most important lesson you've learned from running a festival that you're applying to your studio work?
