MAID IN AMERICA

MAID IN AMERICA
By Marina Albert

GENRE: Comedy, Action
LOGLINE:

A newly-recruited White House maid, with secret service aspirations, foils a plot to knock off the president.

SYNOPSIS:

Albreda Jackson (35) drifts from one temping job to another, but none of the chequered posts bring the street savvy Latifah any pride. If she’s honest with herself, the unconventional soul sista gets a buzz lighting up former ex-boyfriends in target practise. At home with a sniper rifle, Albreda lines up their mug shots on a VR simulator. The diversion tickles her law-abiding bone, while she dreams of a calling in the Secret Service. Let’s hope this new posting isn’t another dead end.

With a Secret Service for dummies tutoring her via car speakers, Albreda runs into an ex-boyfriend en route to The White House. Determined not to be late on her first day, Albreda leaves him and his new squeeze eating her dust. Ignorant of White House protocol, the newly appointed housemaid runs late, misses roll call and gets into a heated exchange with Secret Agents Gregg, Joe, Armando (all 30s) over a revolver at security check. While Gregg lets Albreda’s mad skills with a gun… slide, Joe and Armando are intimidated by her dexterity and plot to have her fired.

On the flip side, Albreda finds long serving janitor, Sankaran (65) a breath of fresh air. In his fifty years of service, Sankaran has witnessed unscrupulous goings-on among Secret Service agents, but has kept his mouth shut for the sake of his job. Weeks away from retirement, he recognizes new recruit Albreda as his lottery ticket to prove his suspicions. Convinced Sankaran’s fishing stories will get her fired, he challenges her to prove him wrong.

Sankaran ensures Albreda is present to catch a pregnant Latina housemaid’s water when it breaks. AND she just happens to be on the Presidential floor when the First Lady needs a pair of trusted hands to bathe the First cat. Word spreads through the domestic ranks like fire - the new maid is snubbing the roster set by Rosa (54) head housekeeper. Rosa’s iron-fisted efforts to mold Albreda are fraught with copious ’head butting’.

Turning up the fire, the maids falsely accuse Albreda of climbing the corporate ladder. Albreda proves them wrong when she discovers that Rosa planted cameras to spy on her staff and pulls out all stops to turn the tables on the bullish Latina. To calm spiralling nerves and neglected rosters, Rosa scarfs xanax like candy, while Joe and Armando spike the President’s bottled water with Ketamine, in order to setup Albreda as the fall gal. With time running out and Sankaran’s suspicions pounding her ears, Albreda finally puts her secret service aspirations to the test.

Written in the same vein as PAUL BLART MALL COP - DAVE - BRINGING DOWN THE HOUSE and Tyler Perry’s MADEA series, MAID IN AMERICA is a non-political, ‘fish out of water’ family comedy with a diverse cast seen through the eyes of domestic staff. Will Albreda Jackson’s wildest dreams of becoming a Secret Service Agent materialize or will she miss the target and be incarcerated for breaking protocol?

I also became a quarter finalist in Scriptapalooza, so I appreciate what you have achieved, so congratulations - but where are your scripts? - a logline and news at all your success is meaningless unless we get to see/read, it - are they so good you fear that someone may steal your ideas? Relax, that is never going to happen - for what it's worth, I suggest you upload, cheers.

That was awesome! A little too fast at times, but I've enjoyed it, thanks!
