SYNOPSIS:

In 29AD, JOSEPH of ARIMATHEA (Ari) consoles twin sister (Virgin) MARY, JESUS and family on the death of Joseph, her husband. Following strict Hebrew custom, Ari adopts Mary, Jesus and her family. Ari is appointed Roman Mines Minister on a visit to decadent Emperor Tiberius’ Capri Isle and happily returns to marry young widow MAGDA,in 31AD. He regrets leaving for 2 years business in Cornwall, much to Magda’s anger.

Frustrated Magda is the biblical “woman caught in adultery”. When Ari returns the night before Jesus’ Crucifixion in 33AD, he forgives her and accepts her new baby girl, Sarah, as his own. Ari pleads with friend Roman Prefect PILATE,for Jesus’ life, but receives only Jesus’ Holy Grail cup and permission to bury Jesus body, after his Crucifixion.

Ari takes Jesus’ body down from the Crossand puts him in his own tomb. But Chief Priest CAIAPHAS angrily imprisons Ari for giving convicted “criminal” Jesus proper burial. Jesus appears to Ari in prison, and demands he take their family, disciples and Holy Grail to safety in Britain and spread his teachings there. He releases Ari, then disappears.

Business thrives and Ari is reluctant to leave, in spite of Magda’s entreaties. In 34AD, Ari’s daughter, ANNA marries STEPHEN, who is captured on their wedding day and later stoned to death: the first Martyr.

Ari decides he’ll remain in Judaea, but will accompany the rest to board his ship to safety in Britain. On their way to Ari’s ship, Chief Priest Caiaphas’ Temple Guards knock him out. They force all onboard a derelict boat without sails, oars or rudder and set it adrift into a deadly storm at sea. As they put to sea, below deck, Magda makes love to semi-conscious Ari.
