By Brandi Self

GENRE: Fantasy, Comedy
LOGLINE:

An offbeat writer is put on trial for the murders of the characters in his new novel.

SYNOPSIS:

Martin Edgewood has just completed his book, “The Railway Murderer”, leaving only one survivor, Lollie Featherton, who barely escapes his murderous antagonist. After celebrating with his dog, he turns in for the night only to be awakened by handsy cops who say they’re dragging him in for murder. Court is a madhouse, his attorney is a bumbling fool who mispronounces his name and points to his pregnant wife who’s in labor in the gallery as an excuse for his dishevelment. But when the prosecutor begins questioning him about his suspicious search history online and real-life Lollie comes up to testify against him, Martin realizes that he could possibly be convicted of all the crimes against characters he made up.

Really unique concept, Brandi Self! I think the logline needs more information though, mainly the character's goal/the story goal.

Here's a logline suggestion: “After an offbeat writer is put on trial for the murders of the characters in his new novel, he fights to prove his innocence ______________ (maybe something about the court being a madhouse and how difficult the trial will be).”

Brandi Self

Thanks for taking a look, Maurice Vaughan, I appreciate your thoughts!
