DEMON CREEK
By Jerry Robbins

GENRE: Western, Horror
LOGLINE:

When a small town is rocked with a series of barbaric killings by an alleged Native American spirit, a sheriff, his deputy, and a Lakota scout hunt down the beast, only to become the prey.

SYNOPSIS:

Jim Holden, the sheriff in the town of "No Chance, " is newly arrived from San Antonio, and hopes for a quieter life for him and his wife, Emily, when a series of brutal, grisly, indiscriminate attacks kill several townspeople. When the Mayor of the town demands the killer be apprehended or killed, Sheriff Holden and his deputy, Cal Russell, enlist the help of the Lakota scout Wicasa, who claims the killings are by the Spirit known as Chiye Tanka - the Big Elder Brother.

The three head out of town and into the mountains to hunt down the spirit said to be of huge stature, bipedal, and covered with hair. Meanwhile, the Sheriff's wife, Emily, is attacked by the large, hair-covered creature at the home of a friend. They endure the pounding of large boulders being tossed at the home as the creature tries to gain access.

Holden comes across another barbarous murder scene at -- the destroyed campsite of a group of prospectors. They follow the tracks and discover the creature has circled back and headed for the direction of the town. Along the way, the posse is attacked by the creature, and in the fight, their pack horses panic and gallop away leaving them with only the ammunition they have in their weapons. With a makeshift fort of fallen trees and logs, they come face to face with the creature for a nail-biting last-stand battle.

I think the first part of your logline needs a better flow, Jerry Robbins. It has "by" twice, which makes the first part sound off. And I think "only become the prey" is supposed to be "only to become the prey." Other than those two things, I really like the logline.
