Acting Is A Fluid Thing...

The art of acting is a fluid thing, ever changing with the times and style that enter and leave the vogue of the moment. As an actor it’s your job to ride within the ebb and flow of what’s trending, to stay on top of the method or approach that allows you to fulfill any acting challenge being presented. To do this requires an understanding of all the tools and methods available to you as an actor, and that means studying different approaches with different teachers to learn different styles in a quest to hone those techniques that will fill your acting arsenal and prepare you for any situation that is thrown at you. Gone are the days of learning a single acting style as a panacea to fulfill any acting challenge. The goal is not to merely be mediocre, clinging to one way of doing things, but to excel as a truly well-armed versatile actor.

I completely agree with RB. Thank you for sharing this!

Hello Alyn.I must say that the statement made by you has deep content;on the subject matter of acting.I recently had to portray a character role of a wino in the movie Joe.I had to transform myself into the character of the wino completely. The movie starred Nicolas Cage and the director David Gordon Green was very pleased with my transfotmation, into the character role.I hesitated at first about under taking the role of the wino;but as a actor I excepted the challenge of the role. The role of the wino turned out to be one of the most traumatic scene's in the movie Joe.[Joe-release date-June 2014].

So glad you found your way to the character Elbert. Very rewarding when that happens. Having played dunks, winos and duggies many times, I know how hard it is to get into that mindset. Congrats on the role, look forward to seeing it.

You're very right, Alyn. Unfortunately the sector is flooded with those one-sided, stereotypical model/actors, particularly on action series on TV. I hope there'll be improvements in the future. Cheers!
