Hey All,
I found this great video with animation basics. I hope it's helpful to those of you who are just starting out and exploring how to learn about animation on your own.
For those of you with professional experience, what are your thoughts? Do you have additional insights that could help beginners?

Excellent beginners' guide, Ashley Renee Smith! In the video, Alex asked "How does this motion feel?" That's a great question to ask no matter what we're creating (Animation, film, scripts, etc.) because we want to provoke emotion in viewers.

This was really informative. Thanks for posting it, Ashley. Currently I'm judging animation shorts for a Festival and this has given me new insights and perspectives into the craft of the art.

Sam Sokolow Hi Sam, I just took that webinar you suggested, this week. Have sent Brandon a question, but have not heard back yet, so I guess he just may be busy. I’ve also posted something about it in this Animation Lounge.

Nice simple explainations of animation principles. Good visual for beginners, there's def a lot to wrap your head around in animation.
I'd add that for me, the question I always ask myself at every stage of my shot.. "what is the intent?" What is the purpose of this shot? What does it need to say? What does it need to communicate to the audience in service to the story. Make sure the intent is clear. This will help avoid sensory overload, and keep the focus on what's important.

That makes a lot of sense, Jackie Tarascio. Motivation and intent should be behind every choice. I think thats helpful advice for live-action creators as well! Thank you for sharing that insight!
