The Music of Gladiator II, with Composer Harry Gregson-Williams - Dolby

Florin Şumălan have you seen the film yet? What did you think?

Florin Şumălan

Geoff Hall , Ridley Scott is one of my favorite directors and I could change my view on some things when I will see the movie again, but at first watch I didn't like it very much.

I thought like maybe it was rushed or missing something in some parts (like when he was angry on his mother and her husband: then, in the arena, when the general told him that he respects his father Maximus, he suddenly changed his mind and wasn't angry anymore...maybe I missed

something).

Also maybe the flashbacks and the main title sequence didn't work well.

I thought the wide shots of the city of Rome were greatly improved compared to the first "Gladiator"...

I think that maybe if Ridley Scott will make a "Director's Cut" (like he did with "Kingdom of Heaven", which I like very much), if will be introduced scenes that explain and show more and maybe if some parts that don't fit in the movie will be taken out, then it could be a great sequel.

I don't know...this is my opinion now...maybe I am wrong with some things.

Geoff Hall , did you see the movie? What do you think?

Florin Şumălan

Geoff Hall , I don't know about you, but I find very hard to express my opinion sometimes. If I would have to say to Ridley Scott what I think about the movie, perhaps I would be very tempted to give him a lot of praises instead of giving him a clean, honest opinion...but maybe he is strong enough to discern fake praises from constructive criticism...

Florin Şumălan hi, Florin, yes, I'm also a Ridley Scott fan, but I have to say that Gladiator II pales into insignificance when matched with the storyline of Gladiator (2000) There were things that irked me, like Denzel Washington telling Paul Mescal twice about rage and fury. Why? We've heard it once, move along now! The music in comparison to the first, was just like background noise, whereas just to hear Lisa Gerrard's voice as a mere coda to Glad II, just didn't work for me. Plus I thought that the citing of Glad I all the time was just making it sound more profound that it actually was. Also Connie Nielsen must have been sick of being asked to cry in every scene. Nuff said!

Didn't get a chance to see it yet, but the discussion is welcomed!
