This is just kind of a curiosity post more than anything. I was just wondering if anyone has ever made a connect via the site (Stage32) that they felt changed their life or outlook on the craft? Asking because, so far, I am liking the different interaction and conversation that Stage32 gets started, and also how easy it is to network and bounce ideas off one another. Any comments/success stories/thoughts are welcome. Thanks!

I agree, I'm liking the interaction with fellow screenwriters and being able to get feedback on things like screenplay formatting.

I agree with you both. I'm liking the interaction with fellow writers as well. I've connected with a few writers now and they all have helped me get my script into better shape with their advice that I can carry into future scripts. This is my FB. I'm here daily going on about a month as I find this site much more beneficial to my potential career lol.

I can confidently say that by utilizing the site to its full potential -- (interacting, inspiring, assisting, supporting, learning, making it a part of my daily routine, etc...) my work has not only increased but benefited. It's not necessarily ONE connection but 3 2 = 1. One universal gear that is crucial for the whole of my work.

Technically, every time we create new topic or post something, we interact. When someone answers our question, we learn. In general you're all right, talking to other writers is good idea. The way I see it, this entire Writing Business is like a 1.000 pieces pieces jigsaw puzzle and none of us has it all, so we learn from each other and hopefully one day, the picture will be completed.

I am a largely self-taught screenwriter, but interacting with people here the last couple of months, I have learned basic/current formatting “rules” as well as gotten advice on a direction to proceed in to better maximize my chances rather than just throwing spaghetti on the wall. I wish I had more time to spend on here, but you have to work on your stuff at some point. :-)

Wow, where do I even start? I've been a member of Stage 32 for just over a year now and it's been an incredible ride so far. I've been able to talk craft with screenwriters right from those who've yet to ever write Fade In to those who have been working in the industry for decades. I've been able to connect to and learn more about those in other roles from makeup to first AD. One month I've been able to blog and share my views with hundreds, other months I've been private messaging the guy who sold Ralph Lauren his Ferrari GTO and Skyping a Cosmo model. I've chatted to directors in LA, writers in NYC, producers flying through Norway, and actors in Australia. I know my name gets dropped at parties and I now get a lot of people approaching me wanting to collaborate. I've gotten work, I've gained access, I've optioned scripts. Most importantly though, I've made a lots of really good friends who I deeply cherish.

Jeremy -- Stage 32 is a good place to be. But don't be a a wallflower. The more you interact with others, the more you will get out of this.

I've had lots of good interactions with a lot of different people, and gotten questions answered I couldn't have figured out on my own. I've been collaborating more, getting better at my own craft as a result, and I've even gotten some potential work. BTW, highly recommend organizing/attending local stage 32 meetups. You can get very connected with your local film scene by doing so, and when a lot of creatives get together, the chances of getting something done go way up.
