THE QUEEN'S CURSE script

Hello people :)

I got a question from Carver Diserens regarding my recent script THE QUEEN which is based and inspired by the evil queen's backstory (the one from Snow White). Actually, he told me that we recently (ten years ago) had a Snow White and the Huntsman twist and asked me what differs my story from all the rest in general.

Well. all the Snow White film adaptations focus around Snow and her success in winning the queen, finding true love, whether it is her Prince Charming or The Huntsman. But not a single one tells the story about what happened before all of that. I wanted the audience to see who queen Grimhilde was before she became evil. I wanted to create empathy for her character. What if she was against it all the time? What if she was forced and cursed to become evil? And what if her greatest enemies are her birth mother and her father (the Magic Mirror)? She simply succumbs to their influence and becomes obsessed with her beauty. And that's when the real story of Snow White begins.

So, the point is to stop making the heroine of Snow White because if there was no poor peasant girl Grimhilde, a heroine of her own world, none of that would ever happen.

That's my answer :)

Can't be 100% original....but u can spin and twist, have a fresh take...that's what usually amuses filmmakers and later on the audience as well....

In "Elevation 404" I had a theme of this urban legend of the lonely hitcher told zillion times from Orson Wells to Twilight Zone....but no one took the take I threw...pretty sure that amused the director to make it, and people react good in response be it festivals or gen.pub.

Shadow Dragu-Mihai, Esq., Ipg

Miroslav Trcak Snow White is a 19th century German Fairy Tale, so in the public domain. You can do what you want with it, just don't copy character design and names from the Disney films, unless they are in the original story.

Shadow Dragu-Mihai, Esq., Ipg They do not mention Queen Grimhilde in the Disney version. Only The Evil Queen, and I could change the names of other characters....

Audrey-Rose Savard

The very first film I saw as a child was Snow White and my favourite character was the Evil Queen, because I actually thought everyone else must have been horrible to her for her to be that way I just wanted to sympathize with her story instead l. I’d watch this so hard!

Audrey-Rose Savard Yeah. Thanks. Long story short. She was actually a daughter of the Witch but she grew up in the family of Ronald the mirror maker and his beautiful wife Beatrice. At a very young age, her "mother" died. she actually saw her mother burn at stake. Her father was mean to her so she had captured him inside the mirror with the help of the Witch. The Queen thought that way she will be freed from him but no. That was only the beginning of her prophecy of becoming a Queen of Lohr and being obsessed with her beauty, cursed to live with that and to be petrified by the fact that if there appears someone fairer than she is, she could age and die in only one day.

That journey and the story is so much different from all the others. It simply leads into a story of Snow White we all already know.
