Roger Franks, Writer/Director (mostly writer)

I am fairly new to the site and working to reach out an make industry contacts. Although I really enjoy directing, my passion is writing, and I live in North Carolina, just a few miles east of Raleigh. My little company is called NilesCat Films and our first project was a nine part web series entitled 'The Carrier', which can be view on bing.tv and still has a facebook page. Our second project was 'This Side of the Fence' written by Patrick Elliott, a good friend in which I produced for him. Our third project, a joint venture between NilesCat and Lagniappe Motion Pictures was 'The Watch', a short film that is currently in the festival circuit and stars Hollywood veteran actor Tucker Smallwood. We were official selections at the Hollywood Black Film Festival, The Macon Film Festival and the Mississippi International Film Festival and won the Audience Award at Macon. I began writing over ten years ago. My first script, 'The Last Goodnight' is a thriller/horror story with supernatural overtones. It was shopped heavily by my former manager, Kim Tambascia, who at the time was working in the creative development department at Davis Entertainment. It was read by several major production companies. Although it didn't find a home, it finished in the finals for several major screenplay competitions and was a tie breaking script at the Page International Awards. It was picked by the North Carolina Arts Council to receive a grant for screenwriters. I have continued to write, widening out in the genres that interest me. To date I have written a dozen or more screenplays in various genres. One script, Dancing Lessons, a romance/drama, is currently being shopped by Safier Entertainment in Los Angeles. If you would like to see our work, I will post the following links for you to check out. http://blip.tv/the-carrier http://vimeo.com/nilescatfilms/thewatch http://youtu.be/dcD-ay9Eifs Future plans are to create a package deal for 'The Last Goodnight' and take to potential investors.
