Hey everyone, My name is Jake and I'm getting into screenwriting. So far I only have a few loglines, a couple of beat sheets and a board but I'm very excited to see all my ideas move forward. I've always loved comic books and spent more time in my life day dreaming about fantastical things than I've spent studying so I figured I'd put all that imagination to good use. I've lived in New York my entire life and wouldn't want to be anywhere else. I'm going into my senior year of high school which may be a little young for some of you to take me seriously but I'm taking what I do seriously so don't bother if you're going to try and knock me down a peg. I'd love to do anything in the field of entertainment but writing is my passion and on top of my creative writing I'm also a journalist. I'm kind of a wiseguy and a bullhead but its with the best intentions, I'm looking for any help I can get so thank you all in advance.

In your spare time try going to websites where you can get screenplays for free or go to SCRIPTFLY.COM and buy scripts that are in the genres you prefer and read... and read... and read. In particular pay attention to character development. I believe if you have the characters sorted out, the great story will follow. Good Luck!

Age, to me, means nothing when it comes to the seriousness of writing; if you have a passion to write, and you love to write - you'll write. There are plenty of places on here to gain education from reading posts, education and webinars, to the meetups where you can go and meet others in your area.
Also, I have received invitations about the ART OF NETWORKING, which takes place in New York, and have received those a couple of times. Could be a good way for you to network, and give yourself some exposure to more people within the industry up close. If you are interested, let me know and I can send you the details.
Also, there is another site called the MasterClass where you can pay $90 to take classes that were instructed by James Patterson, and ones that are upcoming with Aaron Sorkin, for screenwriting, and also Werner Herzog, for filmmaking.

Write everyday, journal, your thoughts, fears, goals, what ticks you, you will be able to use all these into story later, who knows. Make writing a daily habit.
