Best Line from a Romantic Film

Hey everyone, I want to build off an awesome post that Bill Costantini just shared. In honor of Valentine's Day, he asked what are our favorite romantic stories and why? Great question! And while we're thinking about it, what is the best line ever written for a romantic film?

One of my favorites of comes from When Harry Met Sally: "I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible."

I am definitely "borrowing" that one day when I propose. I just hope she hasn't already seen the movie. ;)

What's yours?

Bill Costantini

Great tie-in, Jason.

"You make me want to be a better man." Man, that Melvin....that's As Good as It Gets.

Close second: "I wish I had done everything on earth with you," from Daisy in The Great Gatsby. That one makes my heart flutter for a few moments.

Close third: "It would be a privilege to have my heart broken by you," from Gus in The Fault in Our Stars. He sure kept trying.

Best continued fortunes in your future endeavors, Jason, and Happy Valentines Day!

Tony S.

"The Apartment," Fran Kubelik: Shut up and deal...

"Some Like It Hot," Osgood: [shrugs] Well, nobody's perfect!

Allen Roughton

Notting Hill - "Don't forget I'm also just a girl standing in front of a boy asking him to love her." Probably not the best line on it's own, but it's so good in the context of the story and callback.

Evelien And Dorien Twins

"I'm here because I feel more like me when I'm with you, than I do when I'm with me." ~ D.E.B.S.

Cherie Grant

'I like you just the way you are'.

Bill Albert

"I love you." "I know."

Adam Harper

Bill beat me to it!

Also, this is bad but I can't shake the line from Dumb and Dumber - "Mary, I desperately want to make love to a schoolboy."

...

My more serious quote "you had me at hello."

Eric Christopherson

Peter Gabriel's In Your Eyes playing on the boombox over John Cusak's head in Say Anything.

Jody Ellis

“You had me at hello.” ~ Jerry McGuire

James Matthew Chauvin

Jody and Bill both of those lines is what I first thought of and the Han Solo line was ad libbed.

Roman BRuni

" we will always have Paris ''' Casablanca

Cheryl Laughlin

Gotta second The Apartment but different line for me. The callback when Fran is with Sheldrake and fullly realizes she loves Bud. Sheldrake: What's he got against you anyways? Fran: I don't know...I guess that's the way it crumbles...cookie-wise.:)

Patricia Hylton Zell

Pride & Prejudice (2005)--" ... you have bewitched me body and soul and I love ... I love ... I love you and never wish to be parted from you from this day on." Matthew Macfayden was an excellent Mr. Darcy.

Bill Costantini

Little Women, upcoming 2019 release, directed by Greta Gerwig.

Friedrich: "But I have nothing to give you, my hands are empty."

Jo: "Not empty now."

(Way to go, short filmmaker, then indie filmmaker, and now studio filmmaker Greta Gerwig!)

Craig D Griffiths

"If I live with you or you live with me, it doesn't matter, because I am not going anywhere"

Tony S.

"Crimes and Misdemeanors."

(Allen) Lester: I told you I'm putty in your hands.

(Farrow) Halley: What am I gonna do with a handful of putty?
