I've been taking in a lot of information the past week, realizing a lot of errors and mistakes in my writing habits and adjusting them. Attended an AMA with Richard "RB" Botto today, then a webinar in the Writers' Room with Jason Mirch about an hour after. So my brain is pretty fried from soaking it all up :/ lol I'm not doing any writing today, it's all about learning and figuring out my errors and correcting them. Ending today with a movie and then begin reading the script after.
I just want to say Thank You guys for being a voice of guidance and knowledge. I really appreciate it. You take the time to share your knowledge and expertise, and it means a lot to me. Sometimes we forget to show appreciation, I don't want to let that norm befall me. So thanks to all you guys that's been so helpful everyday in the community. Love you guys!
To the newer writers (being one myself), I just want to leave these suggestions based on my improvement and growth in my writing:
1) Read, read, read. Take the time to read scripts, and also learn about the industry (the latter I'm currently trying to work on myself)
2) Repetition is the father of learning. So try not to slack off on the writing. If I was not as consistent with working on my craft, I wouldn't have seen the growth in my writing as I have. Still more growth to be had, but, I'm getting there..well...will get there :) (Side note/update: finished my 2nd script a couple days ago, started my 3rd)
3) Don't take criticism or correction as an insult to your writing ability. If someone that is experienced in writing gives advice or something contrary to what you "think" may be right, you owe it to yourself and the perfecting of your writing, to at least give it a thought and ponder on if it actually may be more profitable in improving your craft than your method.
4) Be active. A lot of things I've learned is from being active and interacting with the community and those more knowledgeable. Even someone else's post brings better insight on something I might not have even thought of, but realized after I needed clarity on.
5)Don't be an information hoarder -_- lol Something has helped you better your writing, or added insight to your journey, why not share it to others in the same position as you so they too can find improvement in their craft. Each one help one. Don't only take, but give ^_^
CHEERS!

Most welcome Jason Mirch This means a lot coming from you. Truly appreciate it. I look forward to continuing to work with the platform and hopefully with hard work, persistence, and the right attitude, I join the likes of established creatives as yourself.

Just wanted to pop in here and say thank you to Imo for the original post and all who have contributed since. The attendance and response to my latest AMA has been off the charts and I couldn't be more appreciative. Motivates me to do the next one and the next one.
Also, extremely grateful for all the good words regarding the Writers' Room. 6 months (minimum) of planning went into the launch and to see hundreds of people benefit from all the work that was put in then and since is rewarding beyond belief.
Finally, I think this goes without saying, but if you're a screenwriter, filmmaker or producer looking to move things along in your career, do reach out to Jason. He's helped hundreds of Stage 32 members as an educator here over the last 5 years, but the work he's done on behalf of creatives on this platform since he took over as the Director of Script Services a few months back is off the charts. Don't hesitate to contact him!
Have a great weekend!
Most welcome Richard "RB" Botto ! Looking forward to the upcoming AMA's for sure, always leave them fired up and with a wealth of knowledge!
It's mind blowing how big a platform you've created, and in that short a time. That's no small feet, but boy am I glad you beat the grind and got it together. Without stage32, I honestly doubt I would have learned as much as I have or had a source to even know how to start along this path.
Keep up the great work-you and the entire stage32 team keeping the platform growing and expanding. CHEERS my friend!
Pamela Bolinder DEFINITELY! Dan Guardino You have helped me more than you know. That last blog post you did is always a go to for me, it showed me some amateur errors I was making and I adjusted my writing a lot based on it. Hope you continue being present man, and that passion for screenwriting finds its way back. We need you here, your contribution doesn't go unnoticed.

I guess I can understand that Dan Guardino You've been doing this long and accomplished what many of us only think of attaining, so maybe that little time away from writing and focusing on those projects is just what you need.
