Canadian Screenwriter Looking to Make All The Things

Hi all, I'm a New York Times Bestselling author of over 40 books, and screenwriter and I made the decision that 2020 was the year that I really push myself and make some things. I'm going to write/direct/produce my first short film, I know it's going to be a crazy experience and I can't wait to tackle it. 2020 is already off to a great start, I have a couple of projects being looked at for development, a TV show here in Canada, and a movie in the UK. I joined a wonderful FB group of women screenwriters and already feel the difference in connections.

My advice to everyone is to meet people, be friendly, be helpful, be kind, make real connections without always looking for a way to capitalize on it.

Anyone here film their own short? Would love to hear about your experiences.

Hi I have rather an interesting life story that might interest you , in brief i grew up in household where my father was an abusive alcoholic to our family who fought in the British armed forces in Northern Ireland

I grew up in the British rave scene of the mid to late 90s

I was mixed up in British gang culture also a using addict for nearly 30 years while I was running away from my true identity to fit in with my mainly British Afro Caribbean friends and extended family

I made the transition to my true identity as Transgender woman around 7 years ago and I've been in recovery from addiction for a year and 3 months , I now volunteer in an outpatient Substance misuse recovery centre and I'm working towards future employment there . I write poetry and my take on philosophy and also I'm a member of NA and I hold service positions at all levels within the NA fellowship

If you think I have a story you would like to tell get in touch

Good luck girl! I'm more of a feature film person myself. Short films were always as much if not more work than a feature in my mind anyway. I'm not personally much of a writer. That could change..

Sounds fantastic - what's the UK based project about? Best of luck with your short. I haven't attempted writing a short film script yet. I'm more interested in feature length film stories. I'd love to know the name of the women screenwriters FB group too, if you'd be willing to share!
