Crowdfund- rewards include IMDb credits

Hey all!

One of my besties started day one of filming today on her suspense short, RED FEVER.

No it's not about the pandemic. She wrote it in 2018.

I'm so incredibly proud of her tenacity and creativity. She got SAG-AFTRA clearance for filming, but then had to choose non-SAG due to the cost of COVID testing. She is still adhering to all of their guidelines ie the zones, smaller cast, limited locations, etc. the only difference is instead of everyone getting tested by the same clinic, cast & crew were allowed to test where it was convenient (and $6k less in budgetary costs).

Anyway, if anyone is interested here's the link for her crowdfund, which ends on Halloween. There are IMDb producer credits up for grabs on her crowdfund if you need a credit. If she reaches her funding goal, she'll submit it to several film festivals.

Thanks!

Laura

Say, Laura, congratulations to your BFF.; I hope that she succeeds in the behind-the-scenes entertainment business. May I please be honest with you? I'm just an avid entertainment fan, trying to land myself a local publicist who can interview me about my three topics that are based on soap operas and music, and I'm struggling, I don't know what to do.:( So, I thought I could look to you for advice. What kind of efforts should I put in, in order to find myself a publicist? I need to find myself a lead on how to do it. Thank you very much.:)

That's great. I like that she had the guts to go ahead instead of being stopped by the union at this time. That's a real producer. (SAGAFTRA members can always go "FiCor" and do non-union). The SAG-AFTRA procedures are absurd all around, an order of magnitude beyond what any other industry - including medical and food production - does. The weird procedures, agreed upon by major studios and unions last September, are a blatant effort to stymie independent production during a time when it can expand and potentially compete. I know of a number of long-term SAG and DGA members who are about to drop union in order to continue filmmaking.
