Anna Gold, Actress and Writer

Hi Guys,

I was invited by Kay Ross to introduce myself on here. I'm an actress from Chicago (originally) but I currently live in Bozeman, Montana to get away from the city madness. I am learning how to write and hopefully come back to Chicago with a great project in hand. Does anyone have any advice for developing great characters for TV show? That is what I am trying to do next.

Sincerely,

Anna K. Gold

Simply put, my advice for creating great characters is:

1. make them ambivalent - nothing is ever black-and-white

2. ratchet the tension and conflict in their lives - squeeze them hard and see what comes out.

Hope that helps!

Since you're where you are, watch YELLOWSTONE. Excellent character development and it certainly gives Montana it's screen time.

Say, Anna K Gold, the best way to develop new characters for a new television show is to hire a casting director.:) BTW, I've sent a request to you to be welcomed to my network, because there is something that I could pick your brain about. See, I'm also from the same city, and I'm looking for a local publicist who can interview me about my three topics that are based on soap operas and music, and I wonder if you know one.? If so, great. If not, then, that's OK, I'll look to someone else. Are you staying safe during these trying times? I am. Hang in there, and stay safe.

Hi, Anna K. Gold! Welcome to Stage 32! I would most definitely email Jason Mirch (j.mirch@stage32.com). He’s the Director of Script Services here at Stage 32 and can help guide you in the next steps of your career. He’s most helpful and super knowledgeable! Happy writing!

Hi, Anna, are you thinking about returning to Chicago soon? If so, I just want to let you know that I'm struggling.:( Struggling to find a local publicist who can interview me about my three topics that are based on soap operas and music.:( Local screenwriter Brian Edwards and Westchester, IL screenwriter Anthony Moore are NOT answering any of my messages. I don't know what to do.:( Can you give me some pointers on how to find a local publicist? Thank you very much.
