The average cinematographer rarely makes a living wage.
The glamour industry of Show Biz looks glitzy and bright from the outside. Much blood, sweat and tears from inside. It is a magical illusion.
Why do it at all? It's all about having the heart to do what no one else can do. It's all about passion in your craftsmanship. If you don't love it, don't do it. No one is forcing you to accept this brutal challenge.
If you want to earn a massive fortune in the shortest time possible, get your Series 7 and grind on Wall Street.
If you are working in Show Biz, you start from the bottom. Everyone has the opportunity to start at the trenches.
The takeaway is that the content creator who solos the development and expedites hirings must face uncertainty alone. Media Buyers need Captains to sail that ship. No captains, no sailing.

Show Bizness is a great business for money-laundering.
As for the average salary of many Producers and Execs, maybe that's why pay-to-pitch websites are booming. Salary folks simply don't earn enough $ at their day jobs.

Mainstream corporate producers, who control their distribution and keep indie's out of the pipelines or use their content to attract viewership which they then switch, make more than a living wage. Independent industry needs to reform and decouple from mainstream. One topic of discussion on the open Forum One chats put on by ondemand.global
I read this earlier. We invest so much time and money into a project that, at best, will break even and more times than not never take off
John Flynn That is true, and in part it is by design in the industry. The industry economy and eco-system though is undergoing a lot of change and independent industry has a chance to catch up and equalize.
