Distribution : "Mama Rosalina" next step... by Janine Verduci

"Mama Rosalina" next step...

Hello! I was encouraged to post here by a wonderful Stage 32 member, so here goes! I am a writer, actress, producer, and director of my new sitcom, "Mama Rosalina." I entered it into an International Film Festival and got selected! This was lovely news, and I was humbled to receive this recognition. A few days later I was informed that it also won the viewers/audience "Best of the Fest" award. We also got offered a contract by a local major cable network. Which is great, as well. But the contract is non-exclusive, so is there anything that I should be doing to get it out there to other networks? Not even sure how to get an agent because this is all happening so quickly. Thoughts?

Welcome to the community, Janine Verduci. Congrats on the victories with your sitcom! I don't know much about distribution, but I hope you find the answers. From the picture, the sitcom looks great!

Janine Verduci

Thanks so much, Maurice. It is a hoot! Wishing you much success in your future endeavors, as well. :)

You're welcome, Janine Verduci. Thanks.

And I'm definitely looking forward to the sitcom!

Sounds very interesting!

It's definitely worth it to reach out to other networks/distributors since you already have one bite. Are you going to go ahead and sign with the one offer and attempt to fill in the gaps of distribution rights with others? Or are you thinking to research other distribution channels in an effort to find competition?

For now, I would HIGHLY recommend emailing our Director of Script Services, Jason Mirch, who is great at matching projects with executives, or in your case, distributors: J.Mirch@stage32.com

I hope that helps, and keep us posted!

Janine Verduci

Hello, Karen. Thank you for your response. Yes, I reached out to Jason. He is excellent! We have been emailing back and forth. He recommended that I post in the Lounge. We actually got two offers. But this one seemed more for me. After I meet with the network reps, they offered me a contract. However, it is non-exclusive. So I can work with other networks, as well. I'm just not sure who to reach out to. So, I guess I will just see where this network connection leads me. Again, thanks for your insight.

Hi Janine - any updates on your distribution journey? Has your film screened in any other festivals?

Janine Verduci

Hello, Shellie. I have not had a chance to enter it into anything else, as we are currently undergoing a contract for broadcasting.

Shellie Schmals

Hi Janine - that's so exciting!! Would love to hear your experience going through the contracting process! Are the terms what you expected?
