I wonder if using AI is a response to reaching the 'Abstraction Ceiling', where one simply cannot respond to the demands of the story they are writing. The term is used primarily in reference to comprehending mathematical theories, but I expect that is what writer's block is all about.
Me? I just move to another story or project. I never run out of those.
Writer's block seems more like an excuse rather than realizing it's time to take a break and refresh. I set my health app to remind me to stand every twenty minutes. Sometimes I simply stand up and then return to writing. Other times I attend to other tasks.
AI, to me, is a Kleenex used a few too many times by far too many other people.

Robert Franklin Godwin III You are on track when you say "writer's block seems more like an excuse rather than realizing it's time to take a break and refresh" and standing up every 20 minutes or so gets the blood flowing. Keep writing and good evening from Greece!

"I wonder if using AI is a response to reaching the 'Abstraction Ceiling', where one simply cannot respond to the demands of the story they are writing." I think so for some writers, Robert Franklin Godwin III. I keep working on the script until it's where it needs to be. Sometimes I put the script aside and go back to it later.

It is said an infinite amount of monkeys writing on an infinite amount of typewriters will eventually produce Hamlet....
... they will also produce about 1,242 scripts of The Summer I Turned Pretty!

Maintaining curiosity about your characters and story is the key for me. Ask questions, go for a walk, give yourself time to think. Or maybe put it aside for a while and work on something else. You never know what might spark insight!
