But hang on—I’m getting ahead of myself. I’m John Weidner, a former FBI appointee, ex–punk rocker, proud WGA member, and unapologetic VHS hoarder who came to Hollywood chasing fame and fortune and found neither—just a great community of filmmakers and a lifelong caffeine habit.
I co-write with my buddy Ken Lamplugh, whose sharp wit, discipline, and real-world experience help bring power and authenticity to our elevated action stories.
Ken and I are still chasing the dream, one rewrite (and one cup of coffee) at a time!

I get asked sometimes what it takes to get good at screenwriting. I’m not sure I’m the one to ask, but here’s my two cents: read as many scripts as you can. All of them. First drafts, shooting drafts, everything in between. The real education is watching how a story gets better — draft by draft.
