Kirk Johnson

New television network looking for content

We're gearing up to launch our new television network October 17th and are looking for content to air. We are exclusive to the independent film community and are looking for everything from shorts and series to feature length films. Our rates are competitive to services like Netflix and with us you'll receive more exposure as your projects won't be buried under thousands of choices to rifle through. You can check us out at www.theindependentnetwork.us Genres of interest to us are comedy, action, fantasy, sci-fi, horror in all platforms from animation and puppeteering to live content. Children's to adult entertainment. Along with building our television network we are creating a global production company and will be looking for collaborative opportunities as well.

Pat Savage

I have a pilot episode of "The Savage Roads" a biker world adventure series.

Kirk Johnson

I'd be interested in checking it out.

Sidney Stephens

I have several scripts written that could be great movies for your network. Both Drama and Suspense genres. You can read the log lines and synopsis on my website www.SidneyScripts.com or I'd be happy to email them to you. Please let me know. And good luck with this!!!

Kirk Johnson

Thanks Sidney, it will probably about a year out yet before we start looking for scripts to produce, but I'd be interested in seeing what you had going in the suspense department.

Sidney Stephens

"Saving Jessica" and "The Plan" are both suspense/thrillers. Here's the link to my site. http://www.sidneyscripts.com/projects.html Please let me know if you are interested in reading the full scripts. Thanks and have a great weekend!!

Kirk Johnson

Yes I would be interested. You can send the information to theindependentnetwork@outlook.com Thanks

Sidney Stephens

Hi Kirk, if you are looking for music, would you please let me know. I mainly compose for the piano and I also collaborate with other composer who often add other instruments/synth to my music. Wishing you a very happy Spring, Nadia

Kirk Johnson

Hi Nadia, we're looking for everything! Here is our site www.thefanfilmproject.com - come be a part of it!

Nadia Cripps

Hi Kirk, just to say that I'm not looking for paying opportunities, I'm interested in collaborations. Could you please tell me more about the collaboration on your site as I couldn't find any information there. Thank you. Nadia

Kirk Johnson

Hi Nadia! For that you need to go to our sister site www.thefanfilmproject.com - This is where we are building our global independent film company. For this we are looking to get as many people involved from countries around the world as we're able. A listing of some of our upcoming projects is listed there along with more information about what we're doing.

Nadia Cripps

Thank you Kirk, registering right now. Have a nice weekend, Nadia

Mir Mohammed Shajahan Hossain

Nadia Cripps

Thank you Kirk, I'm looking forward to working with you too. Nadia

Balraj Kler

Hi Kirk, how do you feel about detective dramas in the vein of 'The Wire'? I have a first draft script I'd love to get more exposure and critical analysis on if you're interested.

Kirk Johnson

Well, not sure. I'm not familiar with "The Wire", so I just looked up some footage on youtube and we don't expect programs to be G rated, but the language is way over the top, not something we would air, so not sure if that is an aspect of your program. We'd be open to some kind of detective program that was light drama with some good action to it, but we're not looking for overly serious dramatic pieces. I don't know if any that answered your question or not as I've not idea what is or is not in the production you're working on. As far as dramas go with what would go with our programing you be looking at light drama or dramedy.

Lonzo Nzekwe

@Balraj, which country is your drama set? Is it a TV series or movie?

Baltimore Russell

Kirk, I'd like to submit my series for consideration. It's a LGBT series set in NYC. We have six episodes completed and looking to continue production this summer on the final seven episodes of the first season.

Kirk Johnson

That's great! Would love to see what you have going on. You can send the information to theindependentnetwork@outlook.com

Kirk Johnson

Hi Jason, do you have any finished episodes to check out?

Liam J. Holland

Hi Kirk, I've just sent you a message through your website. This sounds like a cool thing you are doing and I was wondering if you would be interested in broadcasting my show "Raw Blues" http://www.youtube.com/rawbluestheseries

Kirk Johnson

Hi Liam. The genres we're working with are action/comedy/sci fi/horror, so the program you have would not fit in with our line up, but I certainly wish you best of luck with your project. Thanks.

B.D. Gunnell

how is this financed? Are you offering financing for approved independent projects or are you pursuing already made (financed) content?

Kirk Johnson

Pursuing completed projects that are ready to air.

James David Sullivan
  1. Is your filmmaker's contract available for public viewing? 2. Do you require a project to be exclusive to your network during the contract period?
Jon Eric Smith

www.likestartingover.com is a web series about a former MMA fighter and pro wrestler who retires and goes back home.

Kirk Johnson

The contract is not ready for viewing at this time as we're still working out some details. Most programs that will be approved to run on our network will not need to be exclusive.

Kirk Johnson

Types of content we will be airing will be in the areas of comedy, sci fi, action, thriller, fantasy in all styles from live to animation and stop motion.

Kirk Johnson

We will not be financing any projects, we're only interested in already made productions.

James David Sullivan

Thanks, Kirk, that was very straightforward and informative. I would like to see the contract when you have it ready, but it sounds like you have a good thing going - or at least started!

Jon Eric Smith

Kirk are you interested in my project ? www.likestartingover.com thanks Jon Smith Creator of Like Starting Over

Kirk Johnson

Sorry Jon, we're only interested in projects in the areas of Science Fiction, Action, Comedy, Thriller & Fantasy.

Kirk Johnson

Thanks James, as soon as it's ready we'll post so we can get things moving forward. A big undertaking with a lot potential, things never get there as fast as we'd like but we'll get there :)

James David Sullivan

No problem! Best of luck! It sounds like a very promising new system.

Doug Wilson

Hi Kirk I've got a sci-fi comedy animated short and others in the works. www.youtube.com/bandofonefilms Sounds like it might fit in with your programming.

Kirk Johnson

Hi Doug, cute film. Our launch date has been moved back from October to spring 2015, so check back with us when we're closer to launch. Thanks
