MYTHS

MYTHS
By Frank Van Der Meijden

GENRE: Horror
LOGLINE:

When a detective in a small town investigates a series of gruesome murders, he discovers that the perpetrators are not humans, but mythical creatures that feed on guilt, fear and blood ties.

SYNOPSIS:

In the remote town of Westvillage, detective Harry Limes is called to investigate a series of brutal murders that defy every forensic explanation. The victims (their eyes missing, their bodies torn apart) appear to have been attacked by animals. Yet the bite marks, the timing of the killings, and the lunar cycle suggest something far older and far darker.

As Harry digs deeper, he encounters Meryl, a folklore researcher haunted by an incident ten years earlier, when her own colleagues were slaughtered during a night of fieldwork in a forbidden forest. Her warnings sound like superstition, until the evidence begins to match her stories. Bloodlines, lunar alignments, and ancient rituals resurface, revealing that the town’s history is tied to three intertwined families: Tressaux, Rastov, and Limes, Harry’s own lineage among them.

Renew bloodlines Every decade, during a rare celestial phase of the Supermoon, creatures once thought to be myth — werewolves, vampiric aristocrats, and shadow-born spirits — rise to renew their bloodlines. They hunt not at random, but with purpose: punishing those who disrupt the balance of the town, and “recruiting” those whose guilt or pain makes them suitable heirs. The rest are sacrificed.

Ritual selections When Harry realizes that the killings are not crimes but ritual selections, he must confront not only the creatures themselves, but his own family’s role in keeping their secret alive. The closer he gets to the truth, the more the border between hunter and hunted begins to blur, until he understands that the myths aren’t legends at all, but a living system designed to preserve itself through human fear and corruption.

As the next Supermoon rises, Harry faces a devastating choice: expose the truth and doom himself, or become part of the cycle that feeds on his world.
