Hey! I’ve been building a lightweight web tool called filmOS, it’s made for directors (and filmmakers in general) to visually plan and organize scenes.
Think of it as a focused alternative to Notion, but built for filmmaking:
Organize scenes by Act 1 / 2 / 3
Add tags like “action,” “props,” “Tony’s arc” and filter easily
Clean, fast UI with scene cards and visual sorting
What’s coming next:
Rich scene notes with images, tables, and pasted references
Shot lists, prop breakdowns, and even moodboards, all in one place
Scene overview by tags, acts, and categories
Collaboration, you can share your projects with whomever you may choose
I’ve attached a few screenshots. This is still early, but I’d really appreciate honest thoughts.
Would you use this in your process? What’s missing?
If it looks useful, just saying “interested” helps a ton.
Thanks
Hey, Magnus Loken. Welcome to the community. filmOS sounds interesting. Could screenwriters use it?

Maurice Vaughan Not really, there are many other great tools out there, but who knows? That said, I'm implementing a feature where you can import screenplay side-by-side to your scene board, and you can highlight parts of screenplay and attach to each scene, hopefully bridging that gap.
Sounds great, Magnus Loken. I'm looking forward to trying filmOS.

Hey Magnus — this sounds awesome! I love the concept of a dedicated tool tailored specifically for directors and filmmakers. Notion is great, but often feels too broad and customizable for the specific needs of a production workflow.
A few quick thoughts:
Scene breakdown by act structure is super helpful. Does it also allow for visual beat mapping or timelines?
Can users collaborate in real time, like co-directors or department heads viewing scene details and making comments?
Would love to know if there’s an option to upload mood boards, references, or storyboards for each scene.
Looking forward to trying out filmOS — happy to beta test if you're looking for user feedback!

Laquan Copeland Moodboards, storyboards, and a beat timeline are coming soon. Would be awesome to have some beta testers!

I’d love to try it out. I’ve used a few script breakdown softwares in the past, and they often have a few glitches I can’t get past. But the ability to do strip boards and dood charts for scheduling is super valuable. I wish there was a cheap or easy way to output call sheets! Some don’t, some cost too much for me.
