Hi, Stage 32 screenwriters.
I want to share with you my recent experience with Zero Gravity because I believe it's vital for you to not give up. As many of you know, I want my screenplay Soul Mated to be optioned. As many of you know, I sent surgical query letters, and I also sent them to ZG. They are the few who are willing to receive unsolicited query letters.
I saw Eric Williams, ZG owner and partner, webcast at Stage 32 and felt compelled to send a query letter to ZG. In two days, I received an email from them asking to send my script and a signed IP Copyright. I did that, and it was a month ago. Now, I decided to do a check-in about it, and I sent an email asking about. They replied to me the next day, telling me it will take between 4 and 6 months until a manager is in contact with me if they are interested. If 6 months pass and I don't hear anything, it means they aren't interested.
I stayed pleased with their reply for me because, as we know, they receive tons of mails and queries, but they had time to reply. It means they are professionals and know what they do. I like that! I don't like when I send emails and people don't reply to me. Occasionally that happens, and when it happens, I forget about it, because it means they aren't on the same page as me. But ZG replied.
I am sharing my experience to encourage you not to give up, but to have patience, ask questions, send emails, and be present. A simple "check-in" can make a difference.
For me, it was important. Even if ZG isn't interested in my script, they were professional with me.
I hope the information will help you.
Don't give up!

Congratulations on getting a script request from Zero Gravity, Sandra Isabel Correia! You're right. A simple "check-in" can make a difference. I've sent check-in emails to producers and directors. Sometimes they passed on my scripts, but some of those passes led to them asking about my other scripts or telling me to stay in connect for future opportunities.

That's awesome, congratulations! I haven't sent a query letter for maybe two years now so I'm nervous about getting back into it, this time for a screenplay lol. But I've heard good things about Zero Gravity so I may well give them a go soon, thank you :D

Thank you Maurice Vaughan! I wanted to share because many of us don’t believe in querying effect and sometimes the opposite happens! Likewise! They also told me if I want to send another screenplay for other feature, I can send! The door is open and if I didn’t the “check in” I never know that! Like you did! Thanks for sharing your experience my friend!

Zero Gravity requests every script they are queried about.
They do not contact many at all, and if so it's quickly. A suggestion to move on.

Sandra Isabel Correia, this is such a fantastic and encouraging experience to share—thank you for posting it! The process of querying and waiting can be so nerve-wracking, but your story is a great reminder that professionalism and persistence matter just as much as the quality of the script itself.
It’s also a great example of why following up professionally is so important. Too many writers assume silence means rejection, but sometimes it’s just about patience and timing. Nothing in this industry moves quickly.
I also love that you pointed out how to recognize when someone isn’t aligned with you—if a company doesn’t have the courtesy to respond, it often says more about them than about your script. Staying focused on finding the right champions for your work instead of just anyone is such a crucial mindset.
Fingers crossed for Soul Mated, and thanks again for sharing this insight with the community!

You are very welcome Ashley Renee Smith thank you for sharing! My goal with my post is to inspire through my experience, and if we don't try, we never know! ZG is professional and deserves a try! Yes, it's a crucial mindset, but a challenging one :)

I loved your comment about people NOT responding to emails (or phone calls). It is epidemic in our society. So many rude people...it's so easy to just say, thanks, not interested, appreciate your work...but it's not for us.

Thank you, Jon Shallit. That's why I wanted to share! Yeah, if they don't reply, it means it isn't for you. Only because you deserve better than that ;)

Sandra, thanks so doggone much for endorsing Zero Gravity!
Sent three queries to ZG since 2019...haven't broken through yet, though. (But I'm not about to give up!)

I had a strong request from them last year, too. I would say Matt T. is maybe the nicest, easiest to talk to executive I've ever met who was open for advice still today, even though he passed on it.
Still, you don't need Zero Gravity to option it. If you did, every project they make would be incredibly successful and that's not the case. They have many, but they don't promote their misses, and there's plenty of those, too.
Your project will make it if it's meant to, with who it's meant to.
Good luck!

Danny Range I loved your last statement “ Your project will make it if it’s meant to be to, with who it’s meant to” because that’s how I think and believe! Thanks for stopping by and share your experience with ZG. I appreciate that! That’s why we are an amazing community:))

100%. I actually got drinks with a manager from Zero Gravity earlier this month, and they confirmed that they do actively monitor their queries email inbox. Always worth it to shoot your shot when you've got something new, and if you ever need help with a query letter template, drop me a dime at success@stage32.com. I've got a great template you can use :)

I had the exact same exp with ZG even down to the reply. And I agree. Even if its a canned response, that's better than no response in my book. So congrats.

Great experience to share. It can be daunting for new writers to reach out to companies but a lot of them are staffed with nice people.

Thank you Ewan Dunbar. That's why I wanted to share, because I see so many writers who are frustrated with query letters and industry responses, and I wanted to inspire and give hope. There are great people and companies that care, and that was my goal! Like you're ever present to support us! Thank you!

Well, same experience with them. Sent my script few weeks ago. Now, we have to face the harsh reality of this profession. Patience... hope... etc...

That’s so good Erik Bianco and I am happy you shared also. Yes, but patience, hope, resilience, persistence, are mindsets that we face in all professions and it’s good to have them ;) It means we are in the game :)) I am cheering for you also!
