Introduce Yourself : Hi there! by Michael McAdam

Michael McAdam

Hi there!

It is finally time to start being more active on this site! I started my production company, Frantic Lounge Films, 4 1/2 years ago in Los Angeles starting with micro-budget comedy shorts. We are slowly growing more ambitious and hope to shoot our first feature later this year. I started this company to give myself more opportunities to act, write, direct and produce and to learn the other aspects of filmmaking that I know nothing about (editing, DPing, etc.). I am always looking for new people to work with and new contacts....

Michael McAdam

Thanks! @Kathryn Yes, we have shot 11 films so far - 7 I wrote (1 co-written with someone else) and 4 from other people. :) I am all about giving opportunities to other people as well. @Brandi Thanks! I can think of all kinds of things I need help with... what is your specialty? what do you enjoy doing? :)

Mary G! Exclamation Point

Hi Michael! I just introduced myself in the lounge. I am a Los Angeles based actress, wanting to start a film career. If you have any parts available, please let me know.

Michael McAdam

@Brandi... a composer! This is good news! I had a crazy experience over the music on our first film... a real learning experience. We need to chat. :) @MaryG! Will do! And good luck with everything! You can do it! @Kathryn You aren't kidding. Most of them have been short films (short shoots - easy for pre-pro and post-pro) but I am indeed very pro-active. The feature coming up later this year (cross your fingers) is going to be a real beast to produce (don't get me wrong - I LOVE this stuff!)....

Andrew Piland

Nice to meet you Michael!

Mike Lynn

Hi Michael. I took the same path as you, and am now back to focusing on acting (and being fitness coach for income). Lets talk shop sometime.

Debbie Elicksen

Looking forward to learning more about your work, Michael. It is hard to be everywhere, but there are sites like this one, which I regularly try to visit and participate in the Lounge so I can see what others are up to. :) Glad to make your acquaintance.

Ellen Schoeters

You seem to have many talents! Would love to watch your comedy shorts! :-)

Michael McAdam

Hope everyone had a great weekend! I am back in the swing of things. Thanks for all the messages! @Brandi I am working on a web series right now that is going to need some music. I will send you a message. :) @ Andrew it is nice to meet you too!! Always happy to make new friends in the biz, ya know? :) @Mike Lynn I would love to! I could use a little fitness help these days... let's talk! @Debbie Lovely to meet you too! I haven't used this site much up until now but I am loving it so far! I will keep you posted on everything... I have a little break - our next shoot doesn't start until mid-May @Ellen You are very kind :) My website is still kinda under construction but I believe there are 3 movies posted at www.franticloungefilms.com - the rest are still in various stages of post production or are on the festival circuit so more coming soon.... Thanks, everyone! This is so cool!

Lesa Babb

Congrats Michael! Sounds like you're on your way. If you haven't already, get Steve Kaplan's Hidden Rules of Comedy. It's a goldmine. Happy to help punch up as needed. cheers

Lesa Babb

Er.. That would TOOLS, not Rules. as in 'The Hidden Tools of Comedy' mea culpa mea culpa

Nerys John

Hi Michael, I had a look at your website and enjoyed watching your shorts. I write comedy features; to date all are set the UK, but my next project will be set in LA. Let me know if I can assist you with anything!

Michael McAdam

@Brandi - I will private message you. :) @Kathryn I will get reading ASAP and get back to you! @Lesa thanks for the recommendation! Every little bit helps. :) @Nerys thanks for watching!!! Much appreciated. The next one to go up is a trilogy of short films - 3 different stories (different plots - different casts, etc) but all with the same dialogue. It is almost through with the festival circuit then we will post it on the site. Our next big project is a comedy feature which I hope to shoot later this year (fundraising ugh don't get me started... part of the way there). I am always looking for assistance! :) Thanks, everyone!
