Introduce Yourself : Two decades of multimedianic cinema by Alessandro Fantini

Two decades of multimedianic cinema

Over the last 20 years I worked as an independent artist in a plethora of media, spanning from painting to cinema, music and writing, conceiving my own creative method that I defined "multimedianic art", a poetic way to describe the simultaneous process through which I elaborate my visual, literary and musical works. Film-making embodies the most powerful multimedianic code since it allows me to express the sense of eerie mystery and irrational forces enveloping human life. So far I consider my "Hidden Mind City's Trilogy" formed by the indie movies "Nepente" (filmed in Rome), "EDOnism" (filmed in Tokyo) and "New York, a venture" (set in Manhattan) the principal core of my cinematographic output. As I have a lot of difficulties to find collaborators and producers in Italy, I often rely on my online networks to lay the fundation of my projects. In 2014 on Stage 32 I got in touch with the New York actors who helped me to make the almost "utopic" task to shoot in Manhattan a reality. Moreover, the movie was screened in 2017 at the first edition of the indie"Movies4movies" film festival of Dobbs Ferry, NY, thanks to an online trailer, while Italian festivals kept ignoring it. That's the main reason I'm keeping looking for new partnership and collaborators on Stage 32 for my new current feature projects, such as "Nurse Blizzard", based upon my latest novel.

All the very best to all of you and enjoy networking!

All very impressive, Alessandro!

Alessandro Fantini

Thanks Richard. Sometime when I meet people (especially iItalian filmmakers with relatives in the film industry) they hardly believe I've got through all these "creative adventures" without the financial or promotional support they got.

Paving your own way, controlling what you can control. Nothing more rewarding.

Bill Costantini

Wow. That is really beautiful every way possible. Veramente bellisimo! You make me want to say to you what Pascal said in Big Night, when he was eating Primo and Secundo's Timpano: "This is so f*cking good, I should kill you!" Heh-heh. Great job, and keep up the good fight, Alessandro!

Thank you very much Bill for the very appropriate quotation. I'm from Abruzzo like Primo and Secondo and I know very well what it means to preserve my "native cultural identity" (that's not linked only to my regional roots) while looking for a broader recognition. As I wrote above, it's a very tough task to find a "space of creative freedom" in a country like Italy where the majority of filmmakers able to get recognition and funds belong to a same small "club". Recently my novel "Nurse Blizzard" (that provided the basis to my latest script) got enthustiastic reviews from some New York readers, who wrote me to keep trying to shoot the movie on the Abruzzo mountains. A further proof that often (sadly) only those living out of "small clubs" (namely out-of-the-box) can actually appreciate the mysteries of creativity. Thanks again for your kind comment and all the very best!
