Do you write in a dedicated setting or are you willy-nilly with it?

I’m Willy-nilly, son of Billy-nilly

Ugo Cavallo

Be like billy "Write a good story, no matters where it comes from"

Audrey O'Reilly

I prefer adaptable to 'willy -nilly.

Barry John Terblanche - I’m just curious if you write in one place all the time (like a dedicated office desk) or if you write in different places (coffee shops, outside, etc.) “Willy-nilly” is just a phrase that basically means you do something in a disorganized or haphhazard manner - like writing wherever you are if inspiration strikes. Sometimes I find myself sitting on my couch and getting the urge to chop away at a project of mine and other times I feel like going outside or to a nearby coffee shop to go write. Just depends on how I’m feeling in the moment. Audrey - I like adaptable! Was just being goofy with my question haha

Christopher Phillips

Barry John Terblanche Willy Nilly is actually an adaptation of Old English - will I, nill I or will he, nill he. Essentially, no choice. It has been adapted to be used "haphazard" or "spontaneous."

Craig D Griffiths

I use the WriterDuet app on my ipad and phone. I write anywhere. Normally on my lounge, in the breaks watching TV with my wife or whenever I have a few spare moments.

Christine Capone

I write at the same spot every day. Although, when driving, a lot of ideas come to mind so I record it on my phone but then, I go back to my usual spot which is at my kitchen table. It's very uncomfortable though and my body aches like crazy but it's the only place I can see outside and keep an eye on my dogs, know what's going on in the neighborhood, it's quiet, etc. Sounds like a lot of distractions but it works : ) Plus I mouth a lot of my dialogue and probably make a lot of funny faces because I tend to become the character so best to write at home so I don't embarrass myself.

CJ Walley

I like to write at a desk in silence but I'll write in the back of the crew bus on the way to set if I have to LOL.

Connie Morales

I'm willy-nilly, but only slightly :)

Jeff Zampino

TOTAL WILLY-NILLY! Pre-COVID I wrote everywhere. Hope to get back to that soon. Writing at home sorta sucks. Now that the weather is better, I'll start writing outside.

I like to write in the casinos in Vegas. The Venetian has a little cpastry shop that overlooks the faux St. Mark's Square. Violins, gondolas, and throngs of people = my best writing setting. Plus hot tea and croissants!

Tabitha Baumander

For a while I had a laptop but I found I wrote in the same place anyway so now I just have a desk top and write in the same place all the time

Jim Boston

Matt, I write in a dedicated setting: My bedroom. (That's where my Power Mac, the computer with a copy of Final Draft 6, is located.)
