Cannes Running Diary

Just getting underway, but the overall mood has been mostly optimistic. Conversations are revolving around new distribution channels and the variety of available opportunities to place/sell content, especially those introduced during the pandemic. Another focus of conversation has been the streamers and, in particular, the variance of money flows from platform to platform.

Still very early and many are just rolling into town. Much more to come. Be sure to follow here and on my IG and Twitter accounts (@RBwalksintoabar)

Cheers.

Opening night party for our partners at the Marche du Film and the Directors Fortnight Party were the highlights of day 2 at Cannes. Huge fireworks show (videos on my Instagram and Twitter @rbwalksintoabar celebrating Indian cinema was quite extraordinary. Much of the talk on the Croisette is revolving around the state of the streamers and how the recent headlines are going to impact creators moving forward. Fortunately, we're hosting a panel today in our partnership with the Estonia Film Commission on Demystifying the Streamers and speaking about opportunities for local language producers to get in on the game. More to come!

Ameena D'Souza

Sorry for not updating quickly, but the last few days have been a whirlwind of meetings, events, parties, and, most importantly, deal making. Have much to share with the community over the next few months as we put many of these deals into play, but needless to say they're going to provide massive opportunities to our creatives and pros alike. More to come.

Overall vibe has been spectacular. The crowd is slightly lighter, but it's absolutely a quality over quantity situation. Everyone is in fantastic spirits and optimistic about the state of the industry and all the various financing and distribution avenues that continue to pop up and expand - Great article about just this in the Hollywood Reporter today, btw.

Two of our four Stage 32 parties are in the books and they couldn't have gone better. Same for our keynote, various panels, and everything else tied into our education partnership with Cannes and the Marche du Film.

Have to run, but again, more great videos and insider looks on my Instagram and Twitter (@rbwalksintoabar)

Cheers!
