Your Stage : Do any of these 7 loglines grab you? by Alex Lang

Do any of these 7 loglines grab you?

Hi everyone!

I am getting ready to start my next pilot script, and I've narrowed it down to these 7 ideas.

Do any of them make you want to read?

1. A rock star joins a secret government agency that fights demonic possession.

2. A poor student deals drugs to both sides in a local Antifa/Nazi war for tuition money.

3. A teenage girl is haunted by the victims of her prison-warden ancestor.

4. An uptight young woman has to take a job at her parent's goth club after she fails out of law school.

5. A con woman takes a job as assistant to a mysterious consultant who can summon rain.

6. A teenager trades in his Nerf guns for real guns when his town is overrun with monsters.

7. A fastidious scientist accidentally discovers how to speak with dogs.

Thanks in advance!

MB Stevens

Hey, Alex Lang I'm rocking with 2, 5, and 7. Great ideas.

Dustin Richardson

I would definitely watch a show about talking dogs. If that's not marketable, I don't know what is lol

Richard Buzzell

Definitely goth club. Please don't do talking dogs.

Rutger Oosterhoff

Non of these loglines really grab me because they're not telling a story but just describing a situation. But as already said, the logline with far the most story potential is "The Stoic." Not a bad logline.

Howard Sewell

Very nice loglines - I like 1, 5, 7 the best

Lisa Otto

I also like 1, 5 and 7 the best!

Craig D Griffiths

2 is good. You have the relationships he will develop on both sides. You have the risk of each side discovering the other relationships. There is a lot of gold to mine.

4 is okay. You don’t need Law School, it doesn’t add anything to the logline.

Kevin Oye

I like #5. Could be interesting with the right imagination.

Bill Albert

Personally #3 got my attention as having things going on on several levels.

Maurice Vaughan

I like 4, 6, and 7 the most, Alex Lang, but I think all of your loglines are ideas instead of loglines.

Kevin Jackson

I like 1, 5 and 7. At first one sounded like the new animated series on Netflix "Agent Elvis" but once you added the demon part, if differentiated it and made it more intriguing. It had me seeing "From Dusk til Dawn" in my head mixed with a bit of "Evil Dead". Definitely grabs me.

5 sounds quirky enough for me to go "Hmm where is this going to go?". Wondering if it's a Better Caul Saul type of Dramedy.

7. This is also quirky and can lead anywhere. Thinking comedy as well.

Ty Strange

I second Rutger's and Maurice's comments about them being ideas, which you mention. That being said my fav idea is #4. Loads of potential comedic conflict and irony.

Brandy Spohn

I like 1, 2, 4 and 5!

Christiane Lange
4 is the only one that grabs me. Sounds to me like it has potential to feed a series.
Stephanie Munch

Hi Alex I love the fact that every idea would appeal to a different audience. My personal faves are 1, 3 (I love this one!) 6 & 7 !

Iannis Aliferis

4 and 6 do it for me, Alex!

Richard Buzzell

A disturbing amount of support for talking dogs. (Terrifying really) However, most of the talking dog votes are watered down by votes for other options as well. Single-choice votes (the most valuable) are definitely leaning towards goth club.

Natalie Neckyfarow
4 for me. Not sure of your genre, which make a difference, but I could see this as being a terrific comedy.
Richard Buzzell

Way to go Natalie! That's now five full votes for goth club and only two full votes for talking dogs.

Jill Laing

All seem pretty fun. 4, 6, 3 (I probably couldn't watch 3 though...too creepy!)

Angel Luis Martinez Jr.

since were on loglines How about

A young boy found dead. Detectives desperately look for clues as to who he is, where he came from and ultimately who was to blame. Feedback

Lori Wilde

My main question on all the loglines is "why". Add the motivation.

Brent Forrest

They all rub me the wrong way except for the last two. For number 6, it would be more interesting if you flip it. These monsters can only be defeated by Nerf guns, our modern military is helpless, but little Jimmy with his Nerf stockpile may just be our last hope - actualyl I'm stealing that I gotta make a call to Nerf. And the last one, Nutty Professor but he speaks with dogs - that's good but you need a tertiary hook.

Angel Luis Martinez Jr.

maybe we need to motivate the audience to watch. Intriguing, interesting stories.

Christiane Lange
4, and I like the law school in the logline.
Tim Bragg

Number 6, that could be a fun idea, it could be a spin on Tremors.
