Screenwriting : I'm back to help offer advice! by Jason Mirch

Jason Mirch

I'm back to help offer advice!

Hey everyone! It is great to be posting after some time away. For those of you who don't know (this community grows every day, hour, minute...), my name is Jason and I was the Director of Script Services for Stage 32 for many years. I stepped away for a bit but now I am BACK in the capacity of a Writer Consultant for the community.

I want to hear about you and what you're working on. And I can give you ideas of how Stage 32 and the professionals on our roster can help. Bit about my background - I've been a film executive and producer for over 20 years and worked on several projects I'm proud to have been a part of (The Help, Contagion, Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, Flight, and a few others). Currently I am producing content for film, television, and digital.

I'm looking forward to connecting with members of the community! And for those of you who I've worked with in the past, I am excited to reconnect! Let's get after it!

Maurice Vaughan

Hey, Jason Mirch! Great to see you back posting! I'm working on a ghostwriting job and a spec script. And pitching of course.

Rachel Troche

Hi Jason Mirch ! Nice to meet you!

I'm currently working with a screenwriting coach/mentor on a rewrite of a drama feature. Once this is polished with him, I'd like to submit this for feedback and coverage from a few sources to see if there are any common areas to address within the script. I'd love to eventually host this on the BlackList and submit to some competitions - my top choices being Finish Line, Page, Austin and Nicholls Fellowship.

Jim Boston

Jason, welcome back!

Me, I'm writing a dramedy script called "Down to One," where a juror's painstaking caution forces her otherwise-preoccupied, otherwise-entrenched colleagues to carefully consider the evidence for a highly-informed decision in a murder trial in modern-day Charlotte, NC. (On top of that, I've accepted Niki Galiano's offer to cowrite some material for her "Rush Hour Comedy Radio" show.)

Glad you're back posting...and here's wishing you continued success!

David C. Velasco

Welcome Back, Jason.

Ashley Darland

Hi Jason! I'm pitching a holiday romcom. It's in the hands of four different producers, and in the meantime, I'm polishing another script.

Cameron Tendaji

Good to have ya back Jason

Jason! I know you disappeared a long time ago. Welcome back!

Sydney Summers

Welcome back :)

David Barrett

Great to see you back Jason. I’ve just completed another draft of my pilot for a crime thriller based on true events. another read through this morning and I should be submitting it to the coverage report. If all works out, I’ll be in touch.

Jack Binder

Welcome back Jason!

Beverley Wood

How lovely to meet you. I gave myself one year last June 1 to try and get something sold (after beating my head against a wall for decades LOL). Pleased to report that I've sold a Christmas script (written in 2021, mind you), written another one, developed a spin-off series with a pitch deck/bible, written a small indie contained feature, have a pitch deck and script that has had coverage and three rewrites, I have two other series proposals that should be pitch decks by June and a synopsis for a nice family feature (MOWish, small). So, now I will give myself another six months, especially if the Xmas movie goes into production and I actually manage to get paid for a script (38 years after I wrote my very first and very bad script).

Chase Cysco

Welcome back, Jason! Happy to see your return to the Stage 32 community.

I'm Chase Cysco, a designer and screen writer, I've recently completed a script titled "Hollywood Echoes." It's a gripping tale set in the glamorous world of Hollywood, where a ex-football star and a disillusioned influencer find themselves entangled in a web of dark rituals at an elite Hollywood Hills party. its very weird , funny and scary at the same time lol

Looking forward to connecting with you and tapping into the expertise of the Stage 32 community! Let's dive into it and make some magic happen.

Maurice Vaughan

Congratulations on finishing the draft, David Barrett!

Alicia Vaughan

Thank you Maurice!

Jason... welcome back! It seems the biggest hurdle to several projects is resistance to funding. I have had fantastic feedback on multiple scripts, yet all have met with hesitation until my team gets an LOI from named talent. BUT... named talent won't commit to an LOI until they see proof of funding. I feel like we're on a hamster wheel!!

Maurice Vaughan

You're welcome, Alicia Vaughan.

Jim Boston

Maurice, thanks a bunch!

Maurice Vaughan

You're welcome, Jim Boston.

Hi Jason Mirch great to meet you! I'm a writer who is starting out. My background is more theatre however I decided I wanted to explore film and tv. I'm currently working on a pilot script for a tv series that centres around domestic abuse against men. It's been an interesting process so far and I'm hoping that this next draft will be good enough for me to send it for coverage... that's the plan anyway!

Ben Henning

Nice to meet you, Jason! I'm a new screenwriter and still looking to establish myself. I've written a couple pilot scripts, and I'm hoping to find potential collaborations or opportunities on this site to gain some real experience.

Anthony McBride

Hi Jason Mirch It's great to see you back. I just landed a new manager and wanted to know what's the best way to encourage a healthy relationship with them.
