Introduce Yourself : Reintroducing Myself by Charmane Wedderburn

Charmane Wedderburn

Reintroducing Myself

Hello Stage 32 — reintroducing myself.

I’m Charmane Wedderburn, a writer and creator working across film and television. I’ve been building quietly for a while and am stepping back into the community with projects that are actively in development and moving forward.

My current focus includes No Safe Exit, a prestige female-led thriller exploring autonomy and surveillance within covert systems, alongside Between Breaths, an intimate, mythic drama that explores grief, love, and the thin line between life and death.

I’m drawn to voice-forward storytelling, strong perspectives, and projects that balance cinematic momentum with psychological and emotional resonance. At this stage, I’m focused on refining, packaging, and connecting with collaborators who value clarity, craft, and originality.

Looking forward to reconnecting, discovering new voices here, and contributing meaningfully to the conversations ahead.

Warmly,

Charmane

Michael Dzurak

Hello, Charmane Wedderburn. I have to say that Undertow looks awesome. No Safe Exit also sounds good with hints of (by my reading here) technocracy, which are themes I have in some of my work. Best.

Charmane Wedderburn

Thank you, Michael — I appreciate that. And yes, you’re reading it right re: technocracy and systems. Always interesting to see where thematic overlaps emerge. Wishing you well with your work too.

Marie Hatten

Hey Charmane Wedderburn No safe exit peaked my interest. Is it about the use of surveillance and the loss on autonomy in relationships that include coercive control?

Charmane Wedderburn

Hi Marie — yes, that’s very much part of it. No Safe Exit looks at surveillance and coercive control, but less through overt relationships and more through systems that quietly remove autonomy while maintaining the illusion of choice. It’s about what happens when refusal itself becomes a threat.

Morgan Aitken

Charmane Wedderburn ! Good to see you back in the mix.

Also: respect for the “building quietly” era. Most people confuse that with “waiting for inspiration to text them back.”

No Safe Exit sounds like the kind of prestige thriller that actually has something to say (autonomy + surveillance inside covert systems is a nasty, timely cocktail). And Between Breaths has that mythic/emotional engine that sticks to your ribs if it’s done right.

Welcome home. Looking forward to seeing how these develop and where you’re aiming them packaging-wise.

Charmane Wedderburn

Thank you, Morgan — that means a lot. And yes, the “building quietly” era tends to get misunderstood. I appreciate you clocking the intent behind both projects. They’re very different engines, but each is about pressure, choice, and consequence in its own way. Looking forward to seeing where the conversations lead.

Maurice Vaughan

Charmane Wedderburn

Hi Maurice — Happy New Year, and thank you! The turkey is still very much on the move — it’s taken on a life of its own and keeps wandering into new territories. Always fun to see which stories refuse to sit still. Hope you’re having a strong start to the year.

Hi Charmaine,

Lovely to see you re-introducing yourself here and stepping back into the community. It sounds like you’ve been building quietly for a while, and it’s always exciting when that work starts to come into the light.

I work in cinematic story development and visual world-building at an early stage of projects, so it’s great to connect with writers and creators who are actively developing long-form stories for film and television. Wishing you all the best with the projects you have in development, and looking forward to seeing what’s next for you.

Warm regards,

Sara

Charmane Wedderburn

Thank you, Sara — I really appreciate that. Yes, I’ve been building quietly for a while, and it feels good to re-enter the room with the work ready to speak.

Your focus on cinematic story development and visual world-building resonates deeply with how I approach projects at the earliest stages. I’m very interested in staying connected and seeing where our paths might intersect.

Charmane Wedderburn

Thank you, Libby — always nice to meet fellow quiet builders. Sometimes the best work happens offstage first.

Hi Charmane, your projects: "No Safe Exit" and "Between Breaths" sound very compelling. We need more female POV out there! I offer premium script notes and a live consult from an actor-writer-producer perspective to help projects become market-ready. I'd love to connect and help you refine your projects.

Charmane Wedderburn

Thank you, Sam—I really appreciate the welcome. I’m very intentional about this phase of refinement and packaging, so it’s encouraging to have that recognized. And thank you for sharing the webinar—it’s very much aligned with where the work is headed.

Looking forward to being active in the community again and following the conversations.

Charmane Wedderburn
