Screenwriting : Hiring a Script Consultant by LindaAnn Loschiavo

Hiring a Script Consultant

R.B. has an informative video here -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iMCvJTUvaKw ----- and R.B. says to ask the consultant for a list of contacts (to see what others thought of working with him/her). If the consultant refuses? "Move on!" says R.B.

Since I've seen others debate the merits of hiring a script consultant - -- and I have wondered too - - I thought this video by R.B. would help STAGE32 members.

Thanks, LindaAnn, this came at a good time. I'm now close to hiring a consultant to get that "honest" feedback before putting my project out in the public domain.

Elisabeth Meier

Hey Boomer, have you tried the coverage you can buy under HappyWriters? Don't know which is more helpful or less expensive, but I read David Levy was very happy with it. :)

Boomer Murrhee

Thanks, Elisabeth, I'm definitely leaning in that direction. I've heard from several who have been pleased with the service. It's another reason why I'm happy to be involved with S32. It does take out much of the angst of getting coverage.

Thanks, Joey, I have your address in my contacts. I'm polishing my logline, synopsis and pitches. I'm almost at the point of pulling the trigger on the next phase. I only get one shot at a first impression. I want to make it count. :-) Thanks for all you and all the S32 staff do for creatives!

Danny Manus

Hey Boomer, I'm happy to help over at No BullScript and answer any questions you might have and we also have 2nd Reader services where you can get notes from working execs, producers & managers. No assistants.

Boomer Murrhee

Thanks Danny.

Hey, Joey, that's my next step after I test the waters (by this I mean, what feedback I get) with New Blood contest on my horror screenplay. Next, base on where I'm weak or strong on my writing, I'm going to need directions from you and your team, JOEY. Thanks, Boomer for this post, it kind of opened my mind to a roadmap into what steps I must take next. I definitely need a proofreader / consultant, if there is such a mix. I've lucky and found two fellow Stagers (thanks, Preston & Robert Hamilton) who have been very kind with their time in giving me feedback. But, would really like the opinion of an established, industry professional. Thanks again to ALL of you.
