Great opportunity right now for aspiring television writers. You want to know why? Read this thread.

I'm getting too old and too lazy to do this. However, if you are an aspiring writer and wish to take a crack at crafting a spec script episode of Angie Tribeca, House of Cards, * Robot, Masters of Sex or many other popular shows, Warner Brother Studios has opening their writing fellowship today, and is taking applications. Here is the link below with requirements for entering the fellowship. Who's your buddy? Who's your friend? That's right, Uncle Phil. https://writersworkshop.warnerbros.com

C Harris Lynn

Whoa! Awesome. Thanks, Uncle Phil!

Raymond J. Negron

I mean who doesn't love Uncle Phil as long as I don't have to sit on his lap. Awesome! RJN

Doug Nelson

Thanx Uncle Phil but Grampa Doug is to old.

Phillip E. Hardy, "The Pro From Dover"

Doug: me too. However, I decided to write a spec episode of one of my favorite shows. I've already A-6 page teaser since I posted this. Just doing it for fun.

Destiny Groove Davis

Thank you Uncle Phill, it could have been worse, you could have said, call me Daddy!

C Harris Lynn

I roughed an ep for one of their shows since you posted this. Now I have 30 days to massage it, mold it - craft it. :D

Phillip E. Hardy, "The Pro From Dover"

Destiny:

You are most welcome my child.

C. Harris: I started about seven hours ago and have written ten pages. And in between, I made dinner and watched part of The Voice.

C Harris Lynn

lol! Me too (well, I made and ate dinner)! I have 36 pages of which probably 20 are going to make it. However, I got the story, three or four key scenes, and some great lines, so it was cool - and fun! Thanks again for this! :)

Raymond J. Negron

Just did a n edit as I read aloud to my cat the script and now at my office doing rewrites on lunch break and writing to my peeps/bros/brodettes. Whatever it takes? Warm Regards, RJN

Arran McDermott

I'll be entering this. Have a one hour and half hour spec ready to go!

Raymond J. Negron

I'm thinking about it as I love "It's Sunny in Philadelphia." Going to read some of there scripts to check on the writing style and go from there. I could nail one of these to the cross. I'm in for the challenge. RJN

C Harris Lynn

I didn't realize WB was behind so many of these shows! It says you can enter two scripts, and there are several shows I wouldn't mind throwing something together for. With 27 days to go, we'll see how this first one turns out. I may focus all my time on it, but we'll see. :D

Zlatan Mustafica

Definitely worth a try :)

C Harris Lynn

One down, sukkas - done, finished, registered, ready to ship! The other show is serialized, so I has to be more smarterer. It's going to take a bit longer, but I have about 12 pages so far. How is everyone else doing? :D

Phillip E. Hardy, "The Pro From Dover"

C Harris: I just finished my spec season four pilot for "Fargo". I wrote 66 pages in 7 days, did two readings aloud, on me, one machine, some polishing, wrote the essay they want, updated my bio and just submitted. I'll probably post my Fargo spec on Script Revolution for people to read and enter into some pilot contests.

Anybody else throw their hat in the Warner Brothers Ring?

C Harris Lynn

I have pieces for two more shows, but nothing complete. I may just go with the one show I already finished. Still have about three weeks, so we;ll see how it goes. Congrats! :D

Phillip E. Hardy, "The Pro From Dover"

C Harris: You can do it. Get one in. Make it your best effort. Thanks, good luck and keep me posted.

C Harris Lynn

Oh I already have one. You can submit two, though. Since I have the time, I'm going to try to do two. We'll see. :D

Linda Hullinger

Sounds like you've been busy, Phillip! That's awesome! I don't believe I'll be entering this competition. I've only watched two of the shows they've listed and not enough to know the characters very well. When it comes to TV Shows, I mostly watch reruns of comedies. Old ones like Wings, Cheers, That 70s Show, Becker, and Gilligan's Island. lol

Linda Hullinger

And C Harris, that's great that you're writing two!

Best of luck to both of you guys!

C Harris Lynn

You watch Becker? ;)

Phillip E. Hardy, "The Pro From Dover"

Linda: Thanks my friend.

Linda Hullinger

C Harris, I used to. Many years ago. Haven't seen it in quite some time, though. But, I was just thinking about the characters on it a few days ago, (Linda and Margaret were my favorites) and it came to mind when I was making the above list. :-)

C Harris Lynn

Hahaha! I was making a South Park reference, and only kidding you. ;)

Linda Hullinger

Ohhhh...lol.... I don't watch that show either. My sons have quoted it many times, but I never heard the Becker quote. lol

Olaojoyegbe Bolarinwa

Sorry' I think I will like to go for the work shop. I have viewed the site, but there is something I will like to know. We are asked to submit a script, an essay, and lastly resume. I will like to ask what should we write about in the essay.

Kriss Sprules

I'd love to have a crack, but not having the right to work in the US full-time is literally the worst way to be excluded.

"We do not sponsor work visas."

Then what's the point of pretending to accept international applicants?

Bill Costantini

Kriss: that's one of the many great things about L.A. - you can get a Social Security card and driver's license on Figueroa Street faster than you can get a Slurpee at a 7-11.

Phillip E. Hardy, "The Pro From Dover"

I have the right but nobody wants me.

Bill Costantini

Dan: that program has been going on for years; helped real estate prices in certain markets surpass the pre-bubble values; and has been leveraged by many friends and family members of politicians (and by former politicians) since its inception. Check out the Youtube videos on how Arcadia, CA, and other towns in the SGV are being called "the Chinese Beverly Hills."

Kriss Sprules

Bill: I wish it was that simple. I've been trying to get a green card for fifteen years.

Destiny Groove Davis

I was born in the USA and I can't get one either!

Arial Burnz

Uncle Phil...you ROCK! Thanks for sharing with the community!

Raymond J. Negron

Already a fan of Uncle Phil and now of Arial Burnz. A freaking crown with a diamond with a baseball logo or something. I mean WHy the F&*k not? As writers we have to get it out of our system or it spirals to rage. Curse, curse, curse. No, I take it out at the gym as I flip truck tires for recreation and deadlift heavy weight, plus martial arts. Already, feel better talking about it. Hope you are all great! Warm Regards, RJN

Arial Burnz

Hee hee! Yeah, I have a bit of a potty mouth. My scripts are going to have dirty words in them. LOL

Phillip E. Hardy, "The Pro From Dover"

Arial: Thanks and you burnz baby!

Arial Burnz

Yeah, baby!!

Arial Burnz

By the way, is this the first time they're doing this? Or is this something they do every year? And have you seen other studios do the same?
