Screenwriting : I just posted my first script on script revolution by Brett Osaka

Brett Osaka

I just posted my first script on script revolution

I tagged my writing style as “Eric Roth,” it made me laugh a little to myself.

I wanted to tag Caroline Thompson, (as well) but she wasn’t on there:

Anybody else got material in there?

Bill Albert

I do. Good luck

CJ Walley

Cool man! Great to see you filling in the tags. Hope you get something out of it.

Brett Osaka

I noticed that I’m the only one that has Eric Roth tagged, gee

I hope whomever wants my movie likes Eric Roth style movies.

And gee, Bill, I’m gonna look ya up. I’ll see what cha got.

Brett Osaka

And CJ — I love your website man, it’s easy to navigate, it allowed me to host my pitch deck, everything is cool.

By far the best site I’ve seen.

Now I’m gonna read this Breakaway Heart script, the professionals recommend it, and I noticed the writer lives down the rode from me.

Super cool!

CJ Walley

Thanks man. That means a lot to me to read.

Maurice Vaughan

Hi, Brett. Pleasure to meet you. I'm on Script Revolution. I haven't used the "writing style" tag though. I'm not sure if my style matches.

CJ Walley

ScriptRev aside, it's always powerful to both know your voice and be able to reference writers similar to yourself.

James Welday

Eric Roth is one of my inspirations, so you’d be in good company.

Dawn Prato

I've posted as well :) Haven't used that tag, but it's so awesome to see people on various platforms!

Craig D Griffiths

I have everything on there. I have blogged about how to get the most out of it. So many places say they are a gateway, and immediately put walls up. SR is a truly transparent and honest gateway.

The writer tag... hmmm. To be honest, do I actually write like the people I choose or do I hope I do. Not sure I am completely self aware when it comes to who I write like. After all we sing great, dance well and look hot when we leave the house. When I fact, I dance like I am having a seizure, sing like I am being strangled and often resemble an unmade bed.

I cannot see CJ or SR praises high enough.

Jim Boston

Brett, I'm on Script Revolution, too...and I'm glad you've come aboard.

All the VERY BEST to you!

Bill Albert

Craig, can I read your blog? Is on SR?

Craig D Griffiths

Hi Bill

http://griffithscreative.com.au/how-to-get-your-work-sold/

I just love putting words down. So this is where I get to brain dump whenever I can. Normally weekly. This link is how I use SR.

CJ Walley

That's a great snappy guide by Craig. Worth noting that he's sold two features on Script Revolution and was a very early adopter.

His philosophy is one I strongly believe in; bring attention to your script, sell the story, and sell yourself as a writer.

The number of writers I see not even doing the basics is staggering and these aren't writers who started last month. I know of writers who've been at this for ten years who still don't have a basic bio.

Also take a look at Craig's whole setup with his site and what he's doing. He's highly proactive and constantly demonstrating how much he cares about story and filmmaking. That's what people hook into - passion.

Seriously, go look at Craig's Script Revolution profile. That's how it's done in 2021.

Craig D Griffiths

Thank CJ

Pidge Jobst

Have a profile on Script Revolution, but haven't really utilized the site to it fullest. We just upgraded to their "rocsktar" status." We'll let you know how it goes.

CJ Walley

Lovely job on your profile and listing, Pidge. First class.

Michael Nguyen

Yes, I previously got around Script Revolution as one of my early attempts to get my work out there, but I am very, very sorry I never got to hang out on the site more. While I was at Script Revolution during the time I was a university student, one of the things I thought was "Hey, it was either this or one of my scripts not being accepted into another submission window!"

Debbie Croysdale

Hope to get some more of my natural flow out on script revolution once my deadlines writing for others is finished. (“Tailored work.”) SR is great entertainment also and not just a showcase for own work, with such a diversity of content! The site is unique, a bullshit free zone opposed to a labyrinth of false promise. Many screenwriting websites offer a carrot on a string as an encouragement to fill out credit card details and often just to receive an “opinion.” SR has reaped results!

CJ Walley

Indeed. Success stories are on the increase lately. They are nibbles compared to the big studio deals that are paraded over us but they are career starters.

Brett Osaka

I signed up for Rockstar status, what’s the stage 32 writing room — and how do I join it?

CJ Walley

The Stage 32 Writers Room is like a more intense level of Stage 32 membership with an exclusive forum, webinars, pitch sessions, and more. As a Rockstar member on Script Revolution, you can go to your Rockstar Resources page which will give you a link to get a month in the Stage 32 Writers Room for free so you can experience it for yourself.

Dawn Prato

Brett Osaka It's a bit biased I suppose, but I'm a member of the Writers' Room and I really love it - it's been great for me, and aside from the general community of Stage32, it's really helped me with getting a bit more confidence to actually pursue a career in writing instead of submitting to competitions and waiting to see what happens.
