Big SHOUT OUT to Tony S!!!

So I just finished my first draft to my first ever horror movie script. As you can imagine, I was a little nervous about the overall product. Does it work? Is it scary? Should I just stick with the genres I'm used to?

Anyway, I needed some feedback and someone suggested Tony S. I had never paid someone to read my stuff before but his fees were reasonable and he seemed cool enough so I figured I'd give it a shot.

Well, in just under a week, he got back to me with a full coverage along with a mark up on my script.

Guys, I can't tell you how good this experience was. As a writer/artist-- ever just wish you could meet someone or show someone your work who just gets it??? Well, Tony S is that guy. He just got it!

His insight into what I was attempting to do was disarming, like he saw right through me, but in the best possible way. His notes were constructive, his criticism fair and his overall tone was beyond encouraging!

Basically, I'm saying he's the best.

It's going great. Very excited about it!

Tony S.

Thank you, Brian. I see you got the check made out to: Brian's Holiday In Aruba, Inc. :)

I got it because of the clarity. Good story, good fun, good read. Thanks very much.

Tony S.

Report it then. Tiny down arrow at top of post, select, Report Abuse. There are Mods lurking. It was not solicited in any way or form.

Lots of inappropriate posts hereabouts. Folks thanking folks abound..

Doug Nelson

Erik - why not? Please educate me so I don't commit the same heinous crime. (I doubt that we'll hear from him.)

Danny Manus

it's a perfectly fine post. you can't create a post advertising your own services, but someone ELSE can create a post suggesting someone or giving a testimonial for someone.

Sofi Odelle

How dare he thank Tony and recommend him to everyone?!?!

Sofi Odelle

No it isn't.

Stevan Šerban

Tony, you're a great guy! I wish you all the best.

Tony S.

Opinions vary, I'm certain. But thanks for the unsolicited shout out and well wishes.

Doug Nelson

I'm always pleased to be able to recommend Tony S and Danny Manus to those seeking true guidance.

Tony S.

Thank you both. Sorry, no discounts. :)

the post represents what S32 is all about. Helping others. The man is happy with his coverage. It was A good deal between two writers. Now they have an even stronger relationship that I’m sure they’ll continue to build on. This is why we’re here.

Erik, this thread will not be moved because it does not meet the set criteria to do so. Tony S did not make this post himself promoting his own services. It is testimonial and it is made as a recommendation of service to others—something that is often done in the forums and what has been done for years since the launch of this site. We share experiences and information with each other. I always recommend (shout out) David Trottier's book The Screenwriter's Bible and he is an S32 member. I recommend it not to sell his book but because it's been very helpful to me and I know it would be helpful to others. I often recommend (shout out) all of Dr. Linda Seger's books too and she is a member as well. Members often post asking other writers for recommendations for a script consultant and other members respond with names and their insights and experience, and, yes, some of those listed are S32 members. Every single post that shares an article or a blog or a YouTube video from someone else is giving a testimonial to it or is supporting it and its author or creator in some way by sharing it in the Lounge.

Erik, think what you wish, you certainly are entitled to your own opinion. I’m referring to S32 policy and commonly known and long-held practices in the forums. Best to you.

Pierre Langenegger

Geez Erik, pull your head in. People have recommended my services before, it's not a problem. You seem to be griping a lot these days. You're not doing yourself any favors, buddy.

John Iannucci

Don’t think Tony would have set this up. I needed coverage and he sent me to his favorite. He could have scooped me up, but didn’t. He’s a stand up guy.

Tony S.

Thanks, John, but you forgot to mention the answers I give to the crazy questions you PM me. ;)

Kathaleen M. Brewer

I did not realize we can't recommend a person who is good at what they do, a person who impresses us. Based on all the entirely different responses I've gotten from readers, script coverage people, pitch session responses, etc - I'd say we all could benefit and save a lot of time and money if we could give and discuss recommendations.

John Iannucci

Well if it’s a crazy question shouldn’t you ask a crazy person?

Tony S.

I was going to use inane. Count your blessings.

Phil Parker

Wow. Did Erik just gaslight every person on this thread and then claim the silent majority back his opinion? lol

Doug Nelson

Erik, I noticed that you said "Note: This is not the place to post your loglines for review. We allow promotional posts or requests for feedback in the Your Stage section of the Lounge." Could you define 'WE' for me please? (It's getting to be fun.)
