Screenwriting : The Third Bomb wins! by Phil Parker

Phil Parker

The Third Bomb wins!

The Third Bomb won a 2nd place GOLD REMI AWARD Sunday at the 48th Annual WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival! Wish I coulda been there. Missed out on some good Texas BBQ I hear. Feeling lucky all the same :-) A bit of motivation to keep going never hurts!

Phil Parker

Cheers, Sam!!

Stacy Gentile

Phillip --- you clearly have a winner there ... stacking up the awards is great! Get that darn thing on the screen already!

Philip Sedgwick

Congrats, mate!

Phillip E. Hardy, Prolifique

Damn son! No ribs in Houston for you; but second place Gold is a pretty good consolation prize. Congratulations Phillip, from Phillip. Your writing deserves recognition.

Anthony Cawood

Phil Parker

Hi Jeffrey, thanks mate!

Bill Lundy

Hey, just wanted to say - excellent script, Phillip! I was one of the industry judges in the Scriptwriters Network's High Concept Contest, and I really enjoyed your work. Congrats on your 3rd place finish there as well!

Shari D. Frost

How exciting -- congrats, Phillip!

Phil Parker

Hey Bill! Wow, that is so nice of you to say so. Getting that kind of feedback is very motivating. Cheers!! Now I just need to find the right producer to fall in love with it! Some promising things in the wind :-)

Phil Parker

Thank you so much, Sharl!

Suzanne Lutas

Hey Phillip, that's wonderful news! I'm not surprised at all. Or may be yes, I am. Because you deserve to rank 1st! By the way, congratulations for your No Bullscript 1st placement too!

Phil Parker

Thanks heaps, Suzanne! It was great to get a RECOMMEND from Danny at NoBullscript :-)

Susan Holtzer

Sounds like you're wheels-up and taking off, Philip. Congratulations.

Virginia Brucker

Congratulations Phillip--sounds like you are well on the way. For those of us who don't know about NoBullscript or the Scriptwriters Networks High Concept Contest, can you tell us more about these contests? We read/hear a lot about Big Break, Page, Nicholls, etc. these are new to me.

Bill Lundy

Virginia - As Chairman Emeritus of the Scriptwriters Network, I can shed some light on the High Concept contest that Phillip won. It's an annual contest, going into its 6th year, judged by industry professionals, that is open to any "high concept" script - that is, a story that is easily relatable in a log line. Winners get a cash prize and are connected with producers, agents and managers looking for their type of projects. I was privileged to win 2nd place in their inaugural contest, and was proud to be a Finalist judge this year. And I can tell you, the overall quality of those 10 finalists was excellent. Phillip's script had a LOT of competition, but definitely stood out, along with the other two winners. You can learn more about it by going to www.scriptwritersnetwork.org

Phil Parker

Thank you, Virginia! NoBullscript.com is run by fellow Stage32 member, Danny Manus. He provided some great notes on my story.

Phil Parker

Thanks, Kat!! :-))))

Danny Manus

Hey Virginia, I'm not a contest & there's no first prize. Technically. I'm a script consultant and I run No BullScript Consulting. I did notes on the script and Phillip received the first recommend of 2015! I don't go easy on scripts.

Brian Walsh

Congratulations! Well done!

Virginia Brucker

Thanks Danny--appreciate the clarification. And I'm glad you don't go easy on scripts. Honest, informed feedback helps the writer grow. That's why they come to you :)

Phil Parker

Thanks, Brian! Welcome to Stage 32.

Karynne Summars

Belated congratulations.

Stevan Šerban

Congratulations!

Doug Davidson

That's great! Congrats!

Phil Parker

Many thanks, Karynne, Stevan and Doug! positive energy all around!

Cinthya Hussey

Congratulations, Phillip! Keep up the good work!

Phil Parker

Many thanks. Cinthya! :-) @Jim - Aww, man you just got my taste buds going again! lol My favorite Texas BBQ joint is a small one in East Texas called Bodacious BBQ. How great is that name?! I would cut off my right arm to eat there again! haha

Phil Parker

Just had someone contact me about some legit writing work after I posted this news on LinkedIn. We'll see what happens, but it shows there are benefits to entering contests beyond just reaching for that brass ring all screenwriters want :-)

Anthony Cawood

Benefits of contests and marketing yourself and your work, way to go Phillip!

Phil Parker

Cheers, buddy!
