Just shot this using a 3 axis gimbal on a moving deck at sea. Any suggestions to make it even more stable?
What about in post with DaVinci Resolve, Premier Pro?

I really do Maurice Vaughan! It's a gorgeous step up and out of the DSLR filmmaking world and a good entry point into cine cameras and larger budget indie projects. I love its built-in neutral density...

Sounds like a great camera, Lindsay Thompson! What's the neutral density filter for?
That’s awesome, Lindsay Thompson! Curious to hear more about your short film—narrative, doc, experimental?

When time slips, gear breaks, or the ask changes mid-day, the job is simple to say and hard to do. Protect the story. Keep the look. Land the performances.

I've only used handheld gimbals so far, but I really want to get into body vest and stabilizer gimbals.
Thanks for the answers, Lindsay Thompson. I wonder if actors wear body vests and stabilizer gimbals in 1st-person POV movies and scenes.
Maurice Vaughan Oh yeah! Snori cams have been around for a while. Check out this shoot from Bad Boys 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HTN6xzjh4rw...

That's incredible, Lindsay Thompson! Thanks for sharing the video. I really want to write a full 1st-person POV script now!
Lindsay Thompson That “simplify the plan, not the story” line is gold.
What's up DP crew? Who is shooting what this week? Better yet... who is shooting the best story? As a DP, I'm obsessed with story. It's at the very foundation of what we do.
I recently started teaching an intro to production class a couple of nights a week at the local junior college. I decided that...

Hey everyone! I’m See Ting, a junior videographer and aspiring cinematographer. I’ve been looking at the filmmaking and production scene here in Singapore and in Malaysia, but it feels like there aren’t many opportunities compared to other places.
I’m curious:
How’s the demand for filmmakers or cinema...

How do we move fast, protect the performance, and still bring back a beautiful sequence?
This is where coverage gets tricky. You need enough to build the scene, but not so much that you burn out your actors, lose the light, or chip away at the tone. Let’s break it down.

Great tips, Lindsay Thompson! Screenwriters ask themselves "what's the scene about?" I've learned directors, actors, etc. do the same thing. And I found out from your post cinematographers do it too....

This is amazing, Lindsay Thompson. Every point here speaks to the dance between precision and intuition that defines a great cinematographer’s process. That idea of “shooting with purpose, not panic”...
Expand commentHere's my answer to camera stabilization in a short demo I shot this morning with a 3 axis gimbal. Like maybe how useless the thing might be at sea. So the cam was certainly stable but nothing else was. Puts a whole new twist on camera-shake. In this case, just shake the whole bloody set but keep the cam still. Cheers!
It was pretty cool, Leonardo Ramirez. It reminds me of the time I got seasick at Virginia Beach. What do you do during filming, Morgan Aitken? Wait until the waves are calm....

The camera "appears" to rotate opposite of the list of the ship. What really happens, as you mentioned, is the camera remains stable making it appear to rotate in the opposite direction of the ship's list. There's pro and cons about doing this and what you want to show in the end.
Actually Maurice Vaughan we shoot, come hell or high-water (or high seas). As for seasick, I warned ya Leonardo Ramirez...

Both Premiere Pro and DaVinci should be able to stabilize the footage.

Adobe After Effects apparently can handle the stabilization and it might be an easier learning curve than Premier Pro or DaVinci Resolve. Ahhh, so much to learn, but I love shooting stuff and having it work out.

Gorgeous shot Morgan Aitken ! I've had better luck with stabilization in After Effects than Premiere in my experience.
