Happy Tuesday, creative family!
I’m currently developing a new short film script titled "How’s Your Day?" and wanted to share the vision I'm bringing to life.
The film explores the "rhetorical" question of “How are you?” and the internal friction we feel when the answer is complicated. I’m planning a split-screen approach:
Right Side: The "Physical Day" — hitting the gym, grabbing groceries, getting to work. On the surface, it’s a productive, "perfect" day.
Left Side: The "Internal Day" — the anxiety of being two minutes late, the feeling of being judged at the gym, the mental hurdles required just to stay present.
As a screenwriter currently working on my second feature spec, I’m excited to dive into this experimental format. I’m sharing this now because I am actively looking for collaborators—filmmakers, producers, editors, and fellow creatives who resonate with psychological, character-driven storytelling. While I have the vision, I'm always open to feedback from those who have navigated the split-screen space before!
I’d love to hear from the community:
Have any of you played with split-screen narratives before?
How do you balance the dialogue so the audience doesn't feel overwhelmed by the dual perspectives?
