The fact that FB had so many problems with people's privacy and then offered the olive branch of a united effort towards a shared cyberspace whilst making every effort to monopolize or clone any upstart existing products just seems keystone to the current silence.
I don't want to alienate anyone but in general, the tech industry had or has not been welcoming to minorities. They created a lot of diversity efforts that never seemed to improve that fact for a decade and as it stands now, despite legal troubles you can still see that most development teams in the entertainment space or otherwise remean mostly white and male and no one seems to mind or notice.
I think these are not the conditions under which anyone would choose to strap on the "rose-tinted" glasses as a mainstay to their usual gaming activities. If there is to be a metaverse it will probably be a monopoly of a few companies as usual.

I do believe in exploiting a platform that is open to all, especially if it gives indies more ways of streaming revenue and building a brand. White dudes may run Roblox, YouTube, and Amazon, but the opportunities they offer on their platforms are there for anyone to take advantage of.
