Hello, my name is Mone’t and I am taking this opportunity to re-introduce myself. As we approach the final weeks of the year, I find myself reflecting on the journey I have taken—grateful for the accomplishments and the personal growth that has unfolded throughout this year. Over the past year, I have come to realize something important about my identity as an author, playwright, and screenwriter—or, more broadly, as a creative. As creatives, we are unique and different in countless ways; as artists, we see the world differently than the average person. Art, in all its forms, is essential to our world—we simply cannot exist without the creations born from human imagination and talent. In fact, as mankind, we are God’s greatest creation, and our individual gifts are a reflection of His unique fingerprint within us.
Being an artist is an experience filled with ups and downs. It can be rough, rocky, exciting, exhilarating, fascinating, daunting, endless labor, and at times, frustrating. It is one of the hardest, yet one of the most rewarding paths to walk in, as we embrace and share our gifts with the world. I have noticed that as creative artists, we inhabit a unique orbit. This creative orbit is extraordinary, layered, and distinctly not “normal.” Yet, we must remain within this orbit to thrive. While each creative’s journey is different, we all share this sense of being in a world apart, and it is not always easy to stay in that special place.
When we create as artists, the world does not care about our process—the blood, sweat, and tears, and pouring out of ourselves, often giving and sharing the best parts of who we are. We are not applauded for our efforts, nor is the beauty of taking a concept from start to fruition always recognized. Yet, ironically, when everything is complete, people gladly reap the rewards and are changed in so many different ways by our finished art.
As the year draws to a close, I want to remind myself and encourage other creatives—to remain in your unique orbit, continue to build relationships with other creatives, and remember to cheer yourself and others on. Define your own normal and remember that your greatest superpower is your perspective and the unique contributions that only you can bring to the table. It is natural to feel discouraged at times, especially when reflecting on goals that remain unaccomplished as the year ends. However, it is important to recognize how far you have come, rather than focusing solely on the goals you have yet to achieve. Remember that you will reach your destination if you don’t quit. Keep moving forward, even if it’s one step at a time, it is still progress.
Let us continue to support and encourage one another, bringing our experiences and perspectives to the table and glean from Stage32, this dynamic platform. Knowing who you are and what you offer is enough, you are good enough! When you have a moment, take the time to sit down and write a list of all your accomplishments in every area of your life, both big and small and give thanks. Reflect on what you have achieved this year, and keep adding to your list, until the last day of this year. Stay in your orbit, own your “not normal,” and appreciate yourself.

Amazing score by the late great James Horner....I was sad when they finally took down the Whoville sets on the Universal backlot. I always laughed during the tour because right around the corner from Whoville was the sets from Psycho and The Bates Motel lol

I didn't know the Whoville sets were taken down, Brandy Camille. They could make a Whoville movie. And I just got a script idea. It's a Horror How The Grinch Stole Christmas kind of script. Thanks....
