The Silent Enemy - Endometriosis by Klara Landrat

Dedicated to women and non-binary people with endometriosis AROUND THE WORLD. Millions of women and transgender people from around the world suffer with Endometriosis. And if you’re one of the 1 in 10 women suffering right now, you know that endometriosis attacks with no regard to social status, faith, or race, and it doesn’t care if you’re cross-gender or non-binary. Endometriosis is not only about surviving the daily unrelenting pain of this ruthless disease, but more often than not it means multiple surgeries, depression, infertility and so much more. It is one of the most misunderstood, under-funded and under researched diseases of our time today... perhaps because it only affects a traditionally underserved segment of the world’s population: women and transgender men. No one can understand this kind of pain unless you live through it. While I decided to create the idea for this film I have also discovered there are so many of us from every corner of the world who share the same stories, bound by pain, misunderstanding, and judgment. I aim to change that with this heartfelt film and simply honor in any means I can, all the women and transgender men who suffer from it. What was equally arresting was the palpable resilience of the women I interviewed. Their will to change the world they live in, whether through raising awareness of local medical facilities or through speaking about it through various social media channels. But the experiences we have shared together are what initially drew me to this story. How can we create meaning in our lives despite these horrendous adversities? That’s what inspired me - to tell the story of these brave women and transgender men, who are required to carry tremendous strengths on a daily basis. This trailer is just the beginning .... Thank you all who have participated and made this possible. Dedicated to all #endometriosis warriors and survivors.
