I’ve been thinking about screenwriting lately as something very close to gardening.
You plant an idea.
You prepare the soil.
You water it with drafts.
You prune with rewrites.
You wait through seasons of growth.
And eventually, one day, you look at your screenplay and feel:
This is the ripe fruit. The script is ready.
So here are a few honest questions I’d love to hear real-world experience on:
1. Once the screenplay feels “fully grown,” what are the practical paths to selling it?
Direct submission to producers?
Agents / managers?
Competitions and labs?
Pitch markets?
What has actually worked for you — directly or indirectly?
2. If the market is slow, crowded, and highly competitive (which it is), how do professional screenwriters realistically sustain their living?
Do most rely on rewriting gigs?
Script coverage?
Teaching?
Adjacent creative work?
What does the real financial ecosystem of a working screenwriter look like today?
I’m genuinely interested in hearing from writers who’ve walked this path — not theory, but lived experience.
Looking forward to learning from you all.

@alex bridge Agreed! I feel like they are finally reaching back around with Lucy to do the arc they should have started with. I also feel like it should have been more her active choice to change and not just blamed on the drugs but that's just me.

The filler seems more like an excuse to showcase the many mutated animals that are in the game... Very cool pipe revolver CH Walley!! Impressive...

I'm off to watch the new episode!

That said, I’m still enjoying it, just with a little more distance than last season. Curious to see if the back half earns the reset. Can't wait to get started on recreating the weapons though. ;) Wednesday’s episode should clarify a lot.

E Langley Beautifully said. I feel the same enjoyment, yet with distance. The first season wrapped me up fully in it's tv arms lol.
