After being rescued from certain drowning by some Coast Guard men, he returns as a foreigner to his own country. There he experiences every kind of “sin” and extreme as an outcast of the system. He steals; he becomes a slave and kills. He tries, willingly, to survive off the beaten track. Director’s note Exile is a man's journey to his country. The story is broken up into episodes, such as dreams or nightmares. And it is also read upside down, in the sense that in the hero's journey the beginning and the end have the same characteristics. The title refers to the loss of self and complete alienation, since the hero experiences, in his own country, a smuggled life. Aris' story is like the story of a modern Ulysses.
