Working from home doesn't have to be like a bad Zoom meeting over and over again

While some of us had been working remotely pre-rona, a lot of us had not and have found ourselves totally in over our heads! Whether you work full time in a creative industry or not, I hope these working from home tips will come alongside you in this "new world."

@Melanie Many thanks for these user friendly insights. I just LOVE your white and tortoiseshell cat. You are right, intellect and ability to market artistic product does not require the square footage of a studio.

Thank you so much for this Melanie! great info.

I must get the audio interface. Do you audition through Source Connect?

Melanie Scroggins

Debbie Croysdale thank you so much! Her name is Fiona and she's basically my sidekick. ; )

Lilo Grunwald-Pearlman so sorry this has taken me so long to respond! I am so glad you found the article helpful. I do not audition through SourceConnect, 99.9% of the time, I audition via recording m...

It's a wrap!

Broadway, the debut feature of Christos Massalas, has wrapped. In spite of lockdowns, we managed to finish the film. It has been an adventure.

I can't say too much about the role at this stage, but it involved a lot of preparation ... and wigs. We expect a 2021 release, with distribution by French La Pacte.

Christiane Lange

Excellent!

Congrats on wrapping, Foivos! Looking forward to hearing more about the project!

Navigating My Way Through The ‘New Normal’

I’m based in London & in my 60s and have found the last few months both exhilarating and frustrating. Having my work diary suddenly empty was awful. No income and I know I’m not the only one in that position. But when I realised how fortunate I was in so many ways I decided that this was an opportun...

Hey, Kait! Thanks so much for sharing - you are definitely not alone! I had started to jump on sets here in LA when COVID happened. Did you watch the SAG-AFTRA video I posted in this lounge? He talks about adjusting to self-taping.

My horror trailers in Spain and Ireland were cancelled this year and next year my first time directing in USA also on hold due to covid. I’m now putting time in writing for Animation as even big studi...

Impressive Auditions by SAG-AFTRA

Caught this fascinating online seminar posted by SAF-AFTRA today (Nov. 5, 2020). What great information! Here were some of my big takeaways:

"Auditioning is never about getting the job".

"Auditioning is just acting under less than ideal circumstances, and self-taping is less than ideal."

Voice Acting Inspiration from Mark Hamil

He has done SO many iconic characters, it's hard to conceive who might inspire him! What voice actors inspire you? Or what characters have you loved and spurred you on to look up who was behind the animation? What animated characters do YOU pull inspiration from?

That range of laughs for every particular moment is what separates these voice actors from any novice. To be able to portray a feeling through your voice rather than body language or facial expressions is pretty great (animators do help put a face to the voice but still really good work).
