Anyways, I think I've found a good script from Vincent Paterno. It's called 'Stand Tall." - a Romantic comedy. You should ask him about it. :))

Well, he knew from the first communication that there was no funding and it was his job as producer to secure the funding. We got as many scenes as possible done for free using locations I had secured. As the writer, I was very conscientious about utilising 'free' locations for different scenes. But there's some important scenes that need specific locations, and I've even suggested to him how to film them (from things I've learned in the past as crew on other film projects), but he won't do it. We started this in 2021, and the pilot is still not finished. :(

Hi Juliet! First you have to ask yourself, WHO is going to watch this, and WHERE are they hanging out. For instance, are they on Facebook or Instagram? Are they hanging at clubs or bars? Make sense? You've got to get very clear on your audience before you can begin a solid crowdfunding effort. Once you're clear, Go Check in with them. Create blog posts for them. Follow them on social media. Build up your focused market. From there, you're now ready to crowdfund! My favorite platform is SeedandSpark.com. They're like a wedding registry for your film AND they are also a distribution platform. You can't get better than that! Juliet, I work in reverse. Look to see who has the $$$$$ - - then see if you can match a project to his/her interest. My first documentary on Texas Guinan (in 2008) was made with 2 Europeans who had generous $$ funding from Germany. My 2nd documentary on Texas Guinan is being funded by a wealthy man who loves TRUE CRIME projects and who has already won film awards. MONEY first. Always.

Debbie Elicksen well, that's probably one reason and one case, but there is a wider institutional bureaucratic problem, in that those who manage the funding don't really know how to gauge a script with potential and therefore fall foul of nepotism and the old 'boys' network.
