While I tried to cut costs by writing a very low-budget short, contained screenplay, it was the director who asked me to add a scene that really elevated the story (though it increased the expense). That was a good lesson in the collaborative nature of this endeavor! Now it will be interesting to see how this film noir dramedy does in festivals, contests, etc. next year.
